BP's SABR Night at the Cell (PDF)
Come out and watch the White Sox battle the Oakland A’s on Tuesday June 2nd. We would like to offer specially priced tickets to any fans interested in learning about new and innovative baseball statistics pioneered by a cutting edge group of baseball analysts, Baseball Prospectus.
White Sox Assistant General Manager Rick Hahn will also participate in the pregame seminar which will take place from 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. in US Cellular Field’s Conference and Learning Center.
Following the seminar, members of Baseball Prospectus will be available for further discussion in the Patio Party Area before the game. Space for the event will be extremely limited so make sure to place your order as soon as possible.

does anyone know if they do these events at other stadiums (stadia?)?
I already followed the “fucking link” and it gave me no insight. I looked at BP’s event page and all that is listed is radio appearances (they don’t even list this event). Hell, I even searched google and all I came up with was BP’s SABR night at the Cell.

obviously BP has people in the press box, like kahrl. hahn understands sabrmetrics just fine. and i doubt KW disregards such input. he just has other ideas and input on the topic, which pisses stat people off who don’t understand what he is doing. seems like his formula, whatever it is, has worked out just fine.

Yeah, I think with Nix impressing so much, maybe this should be when we slowly (immediately and with force) nudge Che into CF so we aren't making him cold/losing the potential of his bat.
I think the overall team’s underperforming is allowing Ozzie to be harsher than necessary on a guy like Che. And it probably isn’t helping the lil missile.

is that it’s not his recent performance (last two weeks) that is why they have put him in the dog house, but that the coaching staff are telling him to do things and he has continually ignored them, last season it didn’t matter so much but this season it’s gone a little sour. I want to see him do well, so we’ll have to see what happens now.

thome has a huge career platoon differential. but in 2008 it disappeared. in the paper today he said he feels more comfortable against LHP. kinda weird.

Q has been less than patient at the plate so far. He needs to see more pitches period. Keeps swinging at low and away balls and getting behind quickly.
I can’t imagine pitchers want to throw him fastballs, but if he would at least take a few balls in the count (he’s only seen a 3-0 count once this year), he might get that fastball a little more often.

His overall swing % is up from last year, while is % of balls for strikes thrown to him is down. He should be walking a little more. OF course he is “making contact” more often with some of the out of zone pitches.

There’s a writer out here, by the name of Kawakami, who seems to be trying his best to combine the worst of Rogers and Cowley. A recent example is this article he penned while evaluating both the Giants and A’s roster.
My favorite part of the article is how he defines his “keepers” and here’s his definition: A keeper is someone who could play a productive role on a playoff-level team or could be traded to acquire more keepers.
WTF??? If a keeper is someone that you trade to acquire more keepers, then what are you supposed to do with non-keepers since they have no value, trade or otherwise, in this system?
He then goes on to divide the rosters into keepers and non-keepers. He goes Rogers on us with comparing the numbers of keepers from each team and the change in the number of keepers vs. last year. Of course, he goes on to pull a Cowley by having Rowand as a keeper last year and a non-keeper this year.

I kow this sounds ridiculous but is my dad a paedophile? He goes away 1 or 2 nights a week for business, always interested in what I do and in his past he had to look after his younger siblings as his parents were nice people but not good parents.
