Well, since we have to say something now, at least one rookie on this team lives up to his hype on his debut.

I am really tired of Ozzie taking pitchers out of the game because he doesn’t want them to get the loss. So what if Richard has over 100 pitches, he is only 25 years old, he can do that. Congrats Ozzie, your starter didn’t get the loss, but the relief pitcher you put in afterwards did, in a swift and quick fashion.
Richard was on short rest
Not sure about prior moves you reference, but Richard was on short rest and he seemed taxed in recent outings. 100 pitches seems reasonable.
Ozzie always takes his starter out of the game in a situation where he could still get the win
regardless if the person he put on base scores or not. Sometimes it ruins everything for the starter though. I just feel that Richard was cruising through the Brewers lineup last night so he should have just left him in to finish the inning. They really couldn’t hit lefties last night anyway (i.e. poreda)
102 pitches through five innings isn't exactly cruising.
Especially on short rest after 100 pitches in 4+ innings the last time out.
EVERYBODY PICK US FOR 3RD OR 4TH SO I DINK WE DOIN POOTY GOO
Sox Machine
This is actually the complete opposite of what Ozzie does.

i don't really consider a raspberry from sliding into home an injury

on a night like tonight, im glad i dont get WCIU
i had to watch updates on my iphone.
i know ozzie has won a world series with us, and i have questioned his managing before. but this stretch of suck we are in, granted the players have been bad, should be accredited to the skipper. i havent read comments above, so i may be repeating whats been said (i really hope that i am actaully).
i dont blame ozzie for taking out richard in the 5th, due to pitch count (maybe he could have gone farther, maybe not). but if you do so why in the fuck would you bring in A GOD DAMN 8TH INNING SET UP MAN!?!?!?!
if i have half the brain of helen keller, i know that we have 2 long relievers, one of which (DJ [clearly]) has had a really good year so far (proir to tonight of course), and the other was just called up for situations like this. thats who you bring in. poreda first, and if he struggles bring the other in to protect poreda.
moreover, why leave dotel in after blowing the hold? instead, lets leave him in to let another run in, because he’s shown such good control already. great idea ozzie. and then, when carraso decides to suck balls, you leave him in to give up 4 runs?
ozzie, walker, cox…. you guys have GOT to go. you are terrible. and i hope what kenny williams meant by "unpopular decisions" is getting rid of these 3 buffoons.
I just accidentally the Fleshlight.
Accidentally what?
THE WHOLE THING!!
I'm not calling for Ozzie's job
Just calling for better decisions. I know he is capable of them, just don’t want his philosophies to get in the way.
i was capable of them 4 years ago
when he let the pitchers pitch, and could actually manage a game.
also, ballyb, i still remain optimistic. although some serious shit needs to happen.
I just accidentally the Fleshlight.

silly
maybe Walker but Ozzie and Cooper? Ozzie is a really good manager and Cooper is the best pitching coach in the game.
Wave that flag.... Wave it wide and high.. Summertime... Done come and gone, My oh my
i didnt say coop
i said cox. its a trifecta of suck

i must have missed when dotel was the sox' GOD DAMN 8TH INNING SET UP MAN.

With the men on-base and the Sox offense being crap, the game was in the 6th inning
Bringing in a high-leverage K artist like Dotel was a great move. It just didn’t work.

Pitcher spot was due to bat in the top of the 7th
That’s why Ozzie didn’t have a long reliever replace Richard, it would have been a waste to use a long reliever for only 3 outs. It is also the reason why Dotel wasn’t replaced once he blew the lead. This is why I hate the NL style of baseball. Besides, this game was due to fail based on the batting lineup and the fact that Ozzie had to use Richard on short rest.

I just came back from the PJ Harvey show!!
Im glad I didnt see this one, but it would have been nice to see Poreda.
It's like he's a cyborg sent from the future to draw 22 walks a season or something.

Do you really think the sox are going to win with that lineup they put out there?
Its a miracle they scored 2 runs.
Though Ozzie has been very very shaky since they called up Beckham. Lots of questionable managerial moves….. tonight you can’t blame him though. God couldn’t have managed that team to a win tonight

I am still on the Beckham bandwagon
It’s been what, 9 games? I don’t think he’s going to have a sub .100 batting average for his entire career.
Is it still the fourth inning?
I agree - at least he is hitting the ball, its not k after k
Remember when "Cuban Pride" meant something...
I'm still trying to figure out why the hell you would ever intentionally walk Jason fucking Kendall...
I think Ozzie thought either they would have an easy out from the pitcher
or it would force them to pinch hit for Suppan with the thinking that Suppan was pitching good and then they could get into the Brewer pen. Which I repsond “what the fuck its Jeff Suppan if you can’t hit him you won’t hit anyone”.

never mind
at least we can have a right fucking good laugh at the cubs

Why the hell was sPod playing normal depth when the pitcher is hitting?
Play in a bit further than normal and then you catch the bloop hit from Suppan. Nice job getting thrown out on the bases twice too.
Today's Lineup
Podsednik lf
Ramirez ss
Dye rf
Konerko 1b
Castro c
Nix 2b
Anderson cf
Beckham 3b
Contreras p
There is some good news for White Sox’s fans, as first baseman Paul Konerko is in the lineup Saturday against Milwaukee after missing two games because of a sore right thumb.
But Konerko and his teammates will be facing Manny Parra for the first time. This marks the 12th time the Sox will be facing an opposing pitcher for the first time. In 11 previous matchups this season, pitchers facing the Sox for the first time are a combined 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA.
I still don't see why they don't move up Nix/Getz to second and drop Alexei to third
in these series. It spreads out the supposedly good hitters more. Then Dye drops to 4th, Konerko to 5th and the great Ramon Castro can bat 6th.

"For the first time" aka follow on Gameday Mini

That Steve Nash is exactly the same as Kirk Hinrich, but worse.

josh fields could learn from this guy
“It was amazing,” said Poreda, the Sox’s first-round pick in 2007 who was promoted Tuesday from Double-A Birmingham. "I felt like I was going to out to battle. I was throwing as hard as I could, never giving up and letting the pieces fall where they did.
that is some major league clicheing.
White Sox Minor League Updates: http://twitter.com/SouthSidelarry
i tell ya what stone pony, he drops cliches like a 10 year veteran. this kid has a chance to be something special.
Cashing checks and having sex.
Well, he did make the mistake of earlier saying "I don't know what my role will be"
Which caused Black Jack to take him to task for not knowing that his role is “to get people out”. But given the above quote, his clicheing is already improved markedly. I guess Walker isn’t the the Sox cliche coach…
his platitude over replacement cliché is staggering. dees keed's going places.

this is what happens when people pick apart a clause from a single sentence from a longer interview. listen to the whole thing
such as:
“I’m happy to fulfill my role first in the bullpen,” Poreda said. “We’re just trying to win games, so I’m doing whatever the White Sox want me to do. And having fun.”
see, he would have been doing just fine if he left it at the ole “i’ll do whatever the team asks.” but he added “and having fun.” that’s a move you’d expect from a savvy veteran, not a guy just called up.

In a attempt to find silk from a sow's ear of a season
I’ve been very surprised by Richard. I’m not saying he’s the next big thing, but his performance curve makes him look like he’ll be a real major league pitcher. And, I can’t remember the last time that someone’s fastball was better than advertised — that’s certainly the case here.
Even only pitching five innings and not being able to field, Richard looks like he could give the Sox a legit 4th starter for next season. Having to only find one good SP instead of 2 can make a big difference. Especially since the Sox clearly need to pour resources into position players.
Also...if a decent trade is on the table for Jenks, the Sox should pull the trigger
Thornton, Linebrink, and Poreda can form the decent back of a bullpen next season hopefully. The Sox can shed Jenks salary and maybe get a decent prospect back in return…
Do the Rays need a reliever?
