WOW...Wide Open West

They don’t carry CLTV, so they preempt this religious channel for CSN+ games. If it’s scheduled, the game usually is shown with no problems. But if WOW suddenly has to change their programming like tonight, a lot of times they mess it up.

Yeah...3rd year and even 2nd year are basically worthless

There’s only 2 required courses after 1st year at most schools (corporations, professional responsibility).
My roommate just graduated last month. I helped him w/ his schedule…he started every day at 2pm and only had one night class. He had a Thursday morning class that he only went to 3 times and got an A-. I’m pretty sure he got all grades in the A range and literally did nothing all semester. This was at a “good” school too.

Yes, you are...I will say that lower ranked schools are tougher with grades

At my school, a B is considered a bad grade, B- is really bad and only 3-4 ppl get a C+.

At a school like JM, they do give D’s and even fail ppl, so it’s a little different, but yeah, that’s pretty bad.

Found this Rotoworld fantasy blurb re: Pods enjoyable

Scott Podsednik, OF, CWS (Yahoo: 13 percent owned; ESPN: 11 percent)

I can’t believe it has come to this, but yes, it is time to consider Podsednik if you’re in need of steals. The resurgent outfielder has already topped last season’s at-bat total (165 versus 162), and his current .315 batting average and 761 OPS would rank as the first- and second-best marks of his career, respectively. More importantly, Podsednik already has nine stolen bases and should continue to run while entrenched atop the order for Chicago.

all of our young players have had problems with the inside fastball

this whole fucking decade. He had more walks than Ks in the minors and I think he has decent defensive potential at second. Besides, he’s been hitting the ball hard lately.

by Daniel Berlyn on Jun 19, 2009 7:17 PM CDT up reply actions

there's a serious difference between

an RHB vs. RHP struggling with the inside pitch and a LHB vs. RHP doing the same. and all of our young players? considering how few position prospects have come in and solidified themselves since 2000, you don’t think there might be a causal link there? not that i’d necessarily grant you the truth of a statement that unverifiable.

THIS STORY ONLY ENDS ONE WAY

by colintj on Jun 19, 2009 7:25 PM CDT up reply actions

learning to hit an inside fastball isn't the hardest thing to do.

he already has good discipline and can hit the ball the other way. Ryan Theriot had the same problem, IIRC. Lots of young players have the same problem. Ryan Sweeney was one of them. Given his stance, it’s harder than you might think to bury that heater on the inside corner. Missing much either way and it’s inside or towards the middle of the plate. Everyone has a weakness. Now, if he can learn to lay off the inside slider more often, he’ll keep getting decent pitches to hit.

by Daniel Berlyn on Jun 19, 2009 7:31 PM CDT up reply actions

your weakness can't be fastballs.

and you keep bringing up shitty young players as evidence in favor of your argument. Theriot can actually hit. his swing is much better than Getz’s. if Getz can BABIP .310 or .320, then he’ll be the player we thought he could be (.280/.330/.380)…but that’s just nagging injury or bad luck from being a useless line. which is where we find him now.

THIS STORY ONLY ENDS ONE WAY

by colintj on Jun 19, 2009 7:44 PM CDT up reply actions

last 28 days

.281/.329/.391 with a .321 BABIP. He’s had one bad month. Granted, that makes up half of his PT so far, but you’re using a pretty small sample size if you’re writing him off for his career or even the rest of the season. And who said he can’t hit fastballs? It isn’t like you can’t learn to pull in the hands with a little experience. It isn’t like he can’t hit any fastball at all like Fields. Supposedly Beckham can’t hit an inside fastball either. Guess it’s time to write him off.

woah
Marty and Jeff are why Cincinnatians are dumb.
I’m not talking about any of your, though because RR has saved your soul. I tuned into my first WLW broadcast today thanks to MLB At Bat. It was pleasing at first, as Marty welcomed me to the ballgame and flawlessly provided the play by play without err.

Until Dickerson found himself on second base. Then came the second-grade-teacher tone telling me that "Jerry Hairston Jr’s role here is to move the runner over." So Hairston bunts, wastes an out, and substantially limits the Reds chances of scoring. But Phillips can’t get Hairston in, and the ONLY chance the Reds gave themselves to score is gone.

Sadly, Jeff and Marty blame Phillips and not the fact that the willingly Reds gave up 1/3 of their chance of scoring that inning. And so most of Cincinnati will do the same, believing that the only way to play the game is to limit yourself to one scoring opportunity per inning. Even if that inning is the FIRST INNING.

They were asking for club/bar recs…I said I’m not a club guy but recommended my go to spot where my buddy works tonight…told roommate’s gf text me if they want to go.
Also told them about my joint bday (w 2 other friends) party tomorrow night.

The Killer: Heart Disease

Diagnosis: It’s the number one killer here and all across America. A 2001 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that around 520 adults age 35 and older per 100,000 in Greater Cincinnati die each year from heart disease, placing us a bit better than the national average of 565 per 100,000. Updated national statistics released earlier this year by the American Heart Association indicate that mortality rates have decreased each year since 2000 due to improved medications and technologies, faster response times, and more prevention on the part of at-risk adults.

Risk Factors: Poor dietary habits—a diet high in fat and not enough fruits and vegetables—are the leading contributor to heart disease. The fallout from such a diet can result in other risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Lack of exercise and a family history of cardiovascular disease also bump up your chances.

Prescription: Eat a variety of foods, and use up at least as many calories a day as you take in. The American Heart Association suggests 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity at least five days a week. Cardiologist Charles Hattemer sees the results every day: "Usually six months after a heart attack, my patients who focus on eating properly and exercising tell me that they feel better than they’ve ever felt." For additional recommendations, and to calculate calories and proper weight, visit www.americanheart.org.A
