back in the day i watched a shitload of cubs games because we didn’t have ON-TV or whatever obscure cable station the sox happened to be on at the moment. Harry Caray used to always groan and say the fake to third move “went out with high button shoes.”

And, yes, Steve Phillips is a jackass. When he was announcing during a Johan Santana-pitched Mets game earlier this year and talked about how some pitchers don’t get much run support (Santana being Exhibit A) he said “some pitchers just help put that mind-set into their teammates”. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the opposing team’s #1 pitcher generally facing Santana, and how perhaps the opposing pitcher might also have something to do with the lack of run support. Idiot.
