Mystery Solved: Why Pods Has Become A Legitimate Leadoff Threat
My friend George, North Side Sox fan for life (like me, from my neighborhood, except 10 years older) sent this to me last night:
My niece told me today that Rick Eickstein ( David's brother ) worked with Podsednick on his hitting over the winter. They share the same agent and the agent is the one that suggested they get together to work on Scott's hitting. It sure has worked out so far, a leadoff hitter is very important.
Now George, being Greek-American, holds certain beliefs dear (the imprtance of a leadoff hitter being one), the most fundamental being "family". Thus, his niece (who is close friends with Rick, having gone to school with him in Lake Mary, FL) I consider to be an unimpeachable source. If this is, in fact, true, to whom do we direct a petition to Fire Greg Walker and Hire Rick Eckstein? And would this happenstance not beg the question as to why Rick cannot seem to help his own brother (hitting the most punchless .260 known to man)?
Discuss.

WinningUgly Fan Forever? :P
We should email Ozzie and after a few good stabs at Venezuela (to get his attention), suggest he relieve Walker of his duty of arriving at the park first…….orrrrrr ever.

All sarcasm aside
This Pods kid has been a remarkable story so far. He was dead and buried, but he’s crawled out of the grave given us a couple months of solid offense.

Coach says he needs more toughness. I gotta step up.
crawled out of the grave
as did you

It's called a liberal education
Admittedly a strange concept for a Purdue grad, but there you have it.

Never took an art appreciation class.
Well, I did study at The Admiral on Lawrence for a few years, but that was after school…

I couldn't make heads or tails of this post.
Pronunciation: ho'kiz'um
Function: noun
1. A catch phrase commonly used by White Sox announcer Ken Harrelson.
2. Standard parlance of an incompetent hillbilly; staple of stylized speech patterns associated with South Carolinian trailer communities; used to "describe" an event (or even a sequence of events) without uttering more than 8 or 9 syllables; in essence, a substitute for original thought.
Hoytsstash does remember frequenting GreekTown as a young 16 yr old buck,
drinking a pitcher of Margaritas
then throwing up alot on the way home.

Back in the day
When they used to know how to separate the Greek men from the Greek boys

Very "Michael Jackson -esque"
Hoytsstash is Irish. I was used stealin’ /taking beers and whiskey up to that point. Then leave it to the fuckin’ Greeks to introduce me to the Margarita ! LOL! Such a confused soul…..

I swore off tequila for 5 years at one point
“Drink ’n Drown Night” at the Suds Factory in Ypsilanti (famous Greek patriot btw) will do that. 35¢ shots of El Chico tequila, but the 50¢ double shots were the real value for the dedicated bargain hunter.

How do you separate the Greek men from the Greek boys?
With a crowbar.
And you don't need a weatherman
To know which way the wind blows.
I am so glad you posted that. I considered a similar reply.
I had thought better of it. It was a mistake.

nothing sweet about El Chico
Washing them down with $2.50 pitchers of Schlitz didn’t help much either. I don’t know how the bar made any money on those nights (although there was a $5 cover for men, girls free – LADIES NIGHT, YES!). The cleaning bills alone must have been a killer, the men’s room was an elbow-to-elbow vomitorium by 11pm. Guys didn’t even bother with the toilets, they just hurled right in the urinals….place was a real Sodom & Gomorrah, great place for date rape before it became politcally incorrect.
