Contreras Splits Doubleheader
Jose Contreras found his split and saved SSS from mass suicide - at least for a day.
Postgame comments from White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen:
"I think it was exciting for everyone, especially the guys, his teammates. We were happy for him because he threw the ball the way we know he can throw the ball.
"He turned a really bad day into a nice day. He did a tremendous job for us, saved our bullpen and won the game.
"He had the best split he's thrown in a long time. He threw it for strikes when he wanted to."

I'm still running...

After 5 minutes of trying to help this kid, the hurt would end up using him as a bat.

I tuned in during the third
and was glued to my chair the whole game. I didnt realize till after the game that I was watching a White Sox game.
It's like he's a cyborg sent from the future to draw 22 walks a season or something.

any idea why the scouts?
In front of scouts from at least eight teams, Contreras’ outing tempered much of the frustration stemming from the first-game loss. He also distanced himself from his previous outings this season, in which he was 0-5 with an 8.19 ERA and requested to be sent to Charlotte to correct his problems.

the sox are in play.
whether they’re buyers or sellers, we may know by thursday night.
White Sox Minor League Updates: http://twitter.com/SouthSidelarry
is it possibly they're buying and selling?
selling all the guys who are expendable this year/have contracts expiring while looking to add a guy or two who has a contract for another few years?

my baseless rumor is
Jim Thome gets traded to Boston for prospects
Q put in DH
After 5 minutes of trying to help this kid, the hurt would end up using him as a bat.
-rangerjae
I dont think they trade Dye
hes a type A guy, and they seem to be valuing those picks more.
South Side (Cant) Hit (For Shit) Men
and do what with our sub-mediocre outfield?
maybe a center fielder in return? and even if that, what about right? move TCQ over to his natural spot? leave thome in the DH until the year is out?
that doesnt sound too bad, depending on who the CFer would be

that was a reply to a misread comment
as i just skipped over the “dont” part of the beginning.

I just read that
and couldnt figure out how to respond.
glad you clarified. I think Dye is the only guy we would want to move that has any value, but I think Kenny rather have the two picks for him, since he implied this week he withheld some money this off-season to sign our new picks.
South Side (Cant) Hit (For Shit) Men
i think hes the top trade-able guy
jenks is up there too, as thornton could really be our closer. we dont need 3 8th inning guys in thony liney and dotel.
also, thome. he might not be up there in value, but a team some where would pick him up. what we’d get for him, my guess would be, either a mediocre power hitting corner outfielder (that would DH but could play when Q! needs a break while Q! DH’s) or a few prospects.
we could also use a 2nd baseman or 3rd baseman, depending on who gets traded and where beckham is put.
but in all reality, i have no fuckin clue as this whole team is somewhat of a clusterfuck of mediocrity. (that i hope pulls a 1983)

the whole time i was saying trade Thome and getting "NTC" as the rebuttal,
everyone’s tune has changed now? This is the double standard I think about before I go on one of my weekly thread-bombing massacres. The hypocrisy.

Does this mean we'll now be treated with "one of [your] weekly tread-bombing massacres" ?
If the answer is yes, then I look forward to being entertained.

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
Castro, who joined the Sox 10 days ago, talked to former New York Mets teammate and former Sox pitcher Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez to learn about Contreras.
“He said ‘stay in the middle, first strike,’ and that’s what I did with him,” Castro said. “That was every pitch.”
Contreras said he was just happy to finally contribute after asking to be sent to Triple-A Charlotte to correct his problems. But he might be able to give the Sox’s pitching staff a much-welcomed jolt, as he threw 115 pitches in eight innings while saving a bullpen taxed from the first game debacle.
He inspired his teammates, particularly shortstop and fellow Cuban Alexei Ramirez, who hit a home run in the first.
“Jose not only inspired me, but he inspired the team the way he came out and attacked everybody,” Ramirez said. “Having him back and pitching that way, it helped the team. I’m really glad to have Jose around because he really missed him on and off the field.”

Fangraphs shows that he’s not playing for anyone right now.

Ok, so contreras obviously earned himself another start
The question is – who should it come at the expense of?
I’d pull Colon out of the rotation before Richard, but will ozzie?
Is it still the fourth inning?
Contreras was awesome.
I have always been a Contreras guy. Probably the only one there is. I’ve gotten in many arguments about him….. it was awesome to see that game tonight. He pitched well and we smoked Bonderman. Wonderful!
Game 1 was terrible. Again I point the finger at you Ozzie Guillen. Plenty of opportunities to steal second base. Instead he opts to bunt them over with a team that can’t bunt. How many times are we going to have to see terrible bunt attempts before he stops attempting them??? It obviously doesn’t work you jackass. Pods, Ramirez, Getz all had opportunities to steal and they didn’t take them.
Then, AJ gets on after Konerko’s homer…. He represents the winning run…. yet ozzie doesn’t pinch run for him. AJ goes on to get thrown out at second on a bunt attempt. Fast forward to the 9th… Cabrera gets on. Leyland immediately pinch runs for him. Pinch runner comes around to score.
Ozzie has managed like shit the last few days. When he is talking about how bad the team is he needs to check himself as well.
Kenwo4life=ratings
why would you pinch run for your catcher when you only have two AND another game that night?
youre an idiot.
South Side (Cant) Hit (For Shit) Men
Thats the winning run. Score the run... Castro catches one inning and the second game
Even if the game goes 3 or 4 extra innings big deal. they can handle it.
Kenwo4life=ratings
I don't know about you guys
but after tonight, I think this team has what it takes to go all the way!**
lol, how quickly the tide has changed. lol
Are we forgetting how we played against Oakland or Cleveland. It was 1 game we played well out of the past 8.
Anyone aware of this?
