You can’t expect Contreas to hold up too long with out starting up his streak of suck again.

but i just read this on soxmachine :

and this shit does not sit well with me. i may be picking a bad argument as i know better then to discuss religion…but im a good catholic. i like my beer, unprotected sex, and go to confession. with that being said, STFU fields and just play baseball…i hope you get a chance to witness to the minors

Really, nothing more needs to be done while Colon is on the DL, right? He’s brought up the best youngsters he has (ready or not, doesn’t matter), position and pitching-wise. Maybe a funtional Q is ready to contribute soon, then we see what we have. If signs of life, great…perhaps the Sox turn into buyers if need be. If these moves don’t work, we’ll all agree if he decides to blow them up.
Though personally I’d rather see that window open for a bigger sample.

Ozzie Guillen was very clear on two fronts Tuesday.

First, that Aaron Poreda is not here to develop, he’s here to produce out of the bullpen. And if he doesn’t?
“I talked to him and made it real clear, ‘If you don’t pitch well, you’re going to have O’Hare Airport next to you pretty soon,’ ‘’ Guillen explained. I think he can help us, I think our scouting report and our minor-league people said we can count on him to win. It’s another good arm in the bullpen. This kid can be used as a long man, against anybody, lefty or righty, and he gives me another good arm in the pen.

Gordon Beckham is back in the starting lineup tonight against the Tigers, batting seventh.
The White Sox’ rookie third baseman (0-for-13) is still looking for his first big-league hit, and two scouts have some advice for him.
"He looks like a pretty good athlete," one scout said. "But he’s got to change his swing or (pitchers) are going to keep pounding him inside."
"The way his swing is, he’s got no chance right now," another scout said. "They’re going to keep working him in until he makes an adjustment."
Beckham has looked overanxious so far, and his swing has been way too long. He needs to shorten up and get more on top of pitches.
