Unfortunate that the Steve Stone/Bruce Miles catfight was more interesting than the past 3 games.

Calm the hell down
These 2 weeks are not for the faint. Yes it sucks but there hasn’t been a death blow or anything (one of the bright spots of coming in tied). We have had to deal with Sybil all season (though I don’t really think of this as that type of situation.) The good news is the mini implosion by the Twins. They still have the favorable schedule but they just might do themselves in before it matters. Of course it requires our boys to grow a pair and put their boots on their necks in the dome but oh well.
The matchups up north are in our favor. They weren’t really so much in Motown. And the starting pitching was good this week.
That bullpen…….

Another thing
it certainly seems like the Sox have gotten rather unlucky this series regarding in-game plays. Two one-run losses? Jenks’ blown save last night was a joke — Inge’s hit was off the end of the bat and Jenks’ completely Matt Abbatacola’d Thames (he sawed the bat in half). Then he goes 0-2 on Granderson who hits a two-hopper down the line.
Don’t get me wrong — shit like this should be expected. After all, it would be unfair of me to not mention the fact that the Sox just had a series where they took two one-run games from TB. I’m just saying, in the small context of one series, shit happens, and it certainly seems like this weekend more things are going against us (as another example, Contreras got extremely BIP unlucky) than for us. That and the fact that the difference between the Sox and Tigers isn’t all that much has made for three close games.

Split would’ve been nice
"It was like everything was slow motion," Wise said. "I stuck my hand out so slowly and was able to make the catch."
they just played a clip of him on the radio.
sounded fine. i wasn’t able to see the game, but it he said he gave up 3 broken bat hits. is that true?
it is what it is......
2 broken bat hits . . . Granderson's
double was a terrible pitch on 0-2.

what the fuck are these motherfuckers on the score talking about?
they keep saying, and have been for a few days, that jenks needs to reinvent himself because he can’t throw 100 mph anymore. come on, it’s not like he’s frank tanana or something. fuck. and he hasn’t been throwing that hard for several years now you stupid fucks.

They aren’t there to provide you with insight…they are there to fill up 24 hrs with talk. They simply can’t fill up that amount of time with intelligent analysis — there’s not enough to say. So, they fill with something else.
But I do look forward to Jenks adding a knuckler per their suggestions.

But there were 32,405 folks at the Seatle vs. Chicago Fire game last night. Where have I been? Is soccer really this popular? End score: 0 – 0.

Makes sense
Soccer has been growing in popularity for years. Also keep in mind that MLB games draws in a large variety of immigrant groups
That was pretty sweet -- the atmosphere on TV looked great
I’m definitely not an MLS guy but I only recently found out that Freddie Ljunberg plays for Seattle. Anyways — his hissie fit after getting a yellow for diving was pretty awesome (and, despite what the announcers said, most certainly deserving of a red card — you can’t show up a referee that much and not expect a card). I also caught a bit of KC/LA game. Both games looked to be very well attended.
I also read recently that Pavel Nedved is considering a move to MLS. Even if they’re getting former Euro ‘stars’ as opposed to current ‘top-class’ players, that’s still a step up from where they’ve been.
This is the first year of the Sounders. It is HUGE here....HUGE. People out here don't like real sports, so as soon as they got an MLS team, everyone jumped on it. It's the new big deal.
I sat in the Sea-Tac terminal with the Sounders on my way to Chicago in May.
I’m sure they won’t be flying public air forever, so it was pretty cool to get to see them all up close and casual. Not like I could name one if I wanted to, but I was not complaining about the flood of beautiful men next to me. After doing a little curious research after meeting them, I discovered that the adorable man smiling on the left is named Stephen King and he was formerly a Chicago Fire player.

But, who would you rather have, Haren or Halladay?

by Ozzie Montana on Jul 26, 2009 11:09 AM CDT up reply actions
Yep, Haren would be under control through '13 (at much below his actual value all years)
And has moved to elite status since adding the cutter
and is hitting better than fields and wise
so we would have a better option if we needed a pinch hitter…

I agree
But for those reasons he would probably require even more prospects in return than for Halladay.

that the Arizona GM goes on a serious bender, does a speedball, has low blood sugar, a nasty concussion, and decides to give KW a call at the same time to complete a Haren trade?

Anyone ever been to the customizable t-shirt stand at US Cellular?
I just want to know if you can personalize a road grey jersey t-shirt there. I haven’t been able to find them online (only the black ones) and would love to replace my dearly missed road grey Joe Borchard jersey without spending the money on an actual jersey.
I posit that Josh Paul did more than any of the others for the white sox
In Game 2.

I have a baseball that I had signed at Soxfest '02 (iirc) and it has the signatures of Josh Paul, Tony Graffanino, Joe Crede, and Jon Garland.
