unlikely to see any moves by Kenny
We have a log jam of mediocre 5th starters. Kenny already made his bullpen “upgrade” with Pena. You can’t give up on that deal this soon. Its hard to upgrade the outfield unless you are giving up on Q! being healthy this year. I suppose you could get a third or second basemen and then move people around.. But I’m not clear if there are any available targets at those positions that are a clear upgrade. We already upgraded the bench. The only move I see is a Fields trade with the equivalent shoulder shrug result of the anderson trade
hah!

The president was drinking Bud Light, Biden was drinking Buckler (a nonalcoholic beer), Gates was drinking Samuel Adams Light and Crowley was drinking Blue Moon.

Is this really a good deal?
“Recommendation: Peavy could still be another month away from returning to the Padres, but it’s good to see him moving towards returning as opposed to shutting it down for the remainder of the season.”

that makes no f'ing sense
so we’ll trade away pieces that might’ve gotten us a division title for 5-6 starts and next year? makes no sense
Richard was the only 2009 piece and that was a big ?? what he would do anyways...

we aren't waving the flag
might have Peavy in Sept. Not sure who fills the gap though…fatolo is probably done.

by trading our #5 starter w/o a replacement
we don’t have a good #5 for a month…who do we throw in there? seems like you can’t throw away 4-5 wins and expect to win the division.
Exactly

Its not like the team will put a pitching machine out there.
They have a couple of options that may yield a win or 2.

Not a fan of this trade if those are the prospects.
"God knows I gave my best in baseball at all times and no man on earth can truthfully judge me otherwise."
we don't give up Flowers, Viciedo, Danks, Hudson
I’d say we’re lookin good. Pitching solved!
Sox win, cubs lose.....what a wonderful world!
Poreda is all I am upset about but I think the Sox saw enough of him to think maybe he is a back end rotation or only a bullpen arm.
Richard peaked at the right time and at best will be a back end of the rotation pitcher.
We got a potential ace pitcher when healthy for not too much.

Agreed....
What a rotation and each year I’ve watched baseball – 1st Sox game in 1958 – the more I’m convinced that Earl Weaver was right, exceptional pitching, exceptional defense, and the 3 run homer.
By next Spring, those four are the best rotation in baseball.
