30 Years Later, Disco is Still Dead, NYT Reports
Alan Trammell, then the Tigers’ shortstop, said, "I remember from the get-go, it wasn’t a normal crowd." Trammell, now a Cubs coach, said umpires ordered the grounds crew to clear debris from the warning track between innings of the first game.
"The outfielders were definitely a little scared," Trammell said. Ron LeFlore, a former convict, played center field for Detroit, "and Ronnie wasn’t usually afraid of anything."
That's right, bitches, ex-con Ron LeFlore was afraid of us (including yours truly, camped out in row 2 in the rightfield stands).

Awesome - only a few weeks after Point East
I was in standing behind home plate – just below Harry. Left the park in time to see 2 purse snatches plus our trunk almost busted into. Fun times!

a young sod father was probably pissed off that day.
I love this team again. I know they’re bad for me.
They’ll probably get drunk again and beat me… but I just can’t help myself.

F*CK YEAH, WU !
Hoytsstash was a young, impressionable lad camped out on the rail of the grandstand upper-deck first row, left field. My uncle was an iron worker for 35 years in Chicago and allowed Hoytsstash to tag along with him and his buddies to most home Blackhawk and Sox games. Including THAT one.
The memories, WU….the summer nights in the 70s and 80s……perfect

Agreed. Though U-God believes that if we had Disco Demolition today
we would’ve forfeited the whole week, not just the 2nd game. Because the kids today have it so over the fans of yesterday. Historical performance sucks.
We’re a pack of a-holes.

LOL
Hoytsstash may make a few enemies here, but how ’bout a Hip Hop Demolition Night?

If only I was a few years older
then I could lie loke everyone else and say I was there that day, too!
I love this team again. I know they’re bad for me.

You're an idiot.
Speak not of what you do not know. Do you nto think this site might attract the same fanatics that would attend that game?
Stick to your cute Photoshops and leave history to those who made it.

If you were a Sox fan back then,
And you hated disco,(which we all did) chances are,you were there that day.I even remember the album I brought . Parliament- Funkadelic’s “Mothership Connection”.Not disco, but close enough.I stayed until the mounted CPD officers threatened us with tear gas.We killed Disco on that historic night.
And that’s no lie.
And you don't need a weatherman
To know which way the wind blows.
Time to reunite the army!!!
Remember when "Cuban Pride" meant something...
I brought "Saturday Night Fever". Yeah, I spent the money on a double album.
Worth. It.

I didn't bring shit.
I was 11 yrs old. I don’t think my uncle or his buddies brought records either. But Hoytsstash does remember watching this absolutely crazy event from the upper deck…….Shit, I don’t think I owned a disco record at 11yrs old…..
Sorry, egus to shatter your image of me participating and dancing in the fire like a wild Road Warrior…….

I didn't run the field - was on a first date,
and didn’t want to be an idjit. But if I have any regret, it would be not going on the field. The Sox’ AZ facilities didn’t quite scratch that itch.

LOL Good point......the effect just wouldn't be the same.......
and the field would still be playable…..
