Follow the Herd to White Sox Minor League Update
With September approaching, that means it's time to consider roster expansion. Any player on a team's 40 man roster can be brought up to the majors without needing to send a player down. September call-ups are used to take a look at promising young players who may be in consideration for next season's team or simply to reward players on a good minor league season. The White Sox 40 man roster currently sits at 39, so there's the possibility of another player being added (*cough* Daniel Hudson *cough*) but, of the players on it already who have not made their MLB debuts, who do you think is most deserving?

wow. slim pickens, larry.
last year i would have said to give link a look, but he’s been pretty shitty this year. with the exception of viciedo, we know that the rest of those guys suck at the game of baseball.
i suppose i’d bring up viciedo. not to play, mind you, but just to get to spend a month with a couple of fellow cubans as well as several other spanish-speakers. this has to have been a difficult year for him and i think he’s handled it pretty well. throw the kid a bone. they’ve already invested the money. i think it’d be good for him.
Cashing checks and having sex.
I was initially going to refrain from voting due to the awfulness of the non cubans on that list
But I like your idea MM. I don’t know if that’s the type of thing the Sox would do, but it would be nice for Dayan to get to hang and learn from Count and Che

im in the hot fire herd.
also, i absolutely hate Colin Cowherd.
Those of you not in Chicago know what Im talking about.
Castro ran into the dugout and told pitcher Jose Contreras, "He hasn't missed a spot all day. I think hes going to do it." Contreras replied, "Shut the fuck up."
I hate him too
he reminds me of Dan Bernstein with the way he argues with every caller that his point is right, and nothing they can say would even be worth considering.

I'd like to see Viciedo get called up, just to get used to the drag of the regular season
Alexei is a punching bag for so many Sox fans, I don’t know how much it affects him, but there is a lot of pressure for him to succeed given the contract and Che’s successful rookie season.
The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.
Harrell
New bullpen mop. None of these pitchers throw enough strikes, but at least Harrell can keep the ball on the ground
I voted for Marquez
Just to be the one person that did. I’m skewing the results!

Ozzie likes to have his three catchers up in September so I imagine Armstrong will get a September look, yes?
Or maybe even Flowers when Charlotte’s season ends (although I see that Flowers is not currently on the 40-man)?

Throw mop-up duty to Egbert, Whisler and Harrell. Bring back Nunez aswell.
Release Colon to add Garcia and potentially Hudson to the roster.

Theft, no respect for team mates, the ladies, property etc. Claiming things of his were stolen so his agent would buy him more. Basically everyone in B’ham wants to see the back of him.
That was just from one source but it does back up the line from Rogers in the BA handbook about him “getting by on cockiness more than ability”, I think that was the line Rogers used.

It seems a strange decision on his part
especially if the reported above slot offer from the Sox is true. Law does note that Morgado has “first-round stuff”, but even still, if he has a bad year he’ll plummet down draft boards.
The risk seems much greater than the reward.

kinda sucks that he can't seek the services of an agent
or someone that could do that kind of math for him. this is confirmation bias is playing out here, i guess. it would be an interesting study to see how well players do in choosing when to go pro. i assume they do badly as i’d guess players as a rule overrate their talent and chances of success. that would lead to them going back to school more than they should, right?
THIS STORY ONLY ENDS ONE WAY
Just the fact they are farther from free agency alone should be enough of a reason to go pro. In baseball where so many guys don’t make it, it just doesn’t seem like a good idea to pass up gauranteed money.
Even if he does make a bit more over the next 5 years by going back in the draft, he’s missing an entire year of getting anything. It would take a substantial raise to make that worth it.

"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it."
Anyone think we will see Hudson on the big league club
before the end of the year?
BA on hudson and link
Hudson, 22, showed three pitches that scouts who have seen him this year have said all at least flash as major league average or better. Hudson’s fastball ranged from 90-93 mph, mostly coming in at 91-92. He didn’t have great command, however, as he had to leave after throwing 91 pitches (53 strikes) and too often started behind in the count.
..
Hudson’s changeup elicited more than a handful of swings and misses, showing good sink and fade at 81-83 mph. His 81-86 slider was a solid pitch at times (scouts who have seen him this year have said it’s flashed average tilt), though it flattened out occassionally when he dropped his arm slot. Hudson also flashed a couple of slow but big-breaking 70-71 curveballs as a show-me pitch.
Charlotte closer Jon Link is already 25, but the righthander has a solid three-pitch mix and is averaging 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. On the flip side, he also has walked 4.2 per nine with a 4.56 ERA in 49 1/3 innings for the Knights.
While pitching a scoreless ninth inning yesterday, Link showed a 93-94 mph fastball, an 85 mph slider and an 82 mph changeup.
i guess i was hoping
hudson had a little better fastball. but whatever. if you can pitch you can pitch.
