The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.
by Ozzie Montana on Aug 15, 2009 3:53 PM CDT up reply actions
The UC system is interesting
It seems like UCLA goes out of its way to accept more NorCal (read: Giants fans) kids and Berkeley goes out of its way to accept more SoCal kids…of course there are a ton of SoCal kids (approx 93% are in state kids) but they’re all dodgers fans so they don’t give a crap and can’t be bothered being annoying about their baseball afiliations
There’s a very vocal and annoying population of giants fans here
-Jeeves Life in the Cell
yeah, my brother's entire group of friends
are bay area. maybe it’s the kids trying to get away from home and not the school? though Berkeley is somewhat better than UCLA, supposedly. personally, i’m skeptical of the UC system in general now.
THIS STORY ONLY ENDS ONE WAY
Berkeley has a better overall reputation
I think they are fairly comparable across the board (not just me being biased). UCLA has its better programs as does Berkeley. We do have them pantsed on location and weather which is partly why I declined them and came here instead
I was in Japan earlier this month and for whatever reason UCLA resonates more with Japanese than Berkeley
-Jeeves Life in the Cell
That makes sense
I went to UCLA in 2004 for a month for some pre-college immersion whatnot, and there were a ton of kids from Northern California. I was still in high school so never really knew the vast difference between a person from NorCal compared to SoCal.
The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.
by Ozzie Montana on Aug 15, 2009 4:05 PM CDT up reply actions
the real way to tell is to just talk to them
If gibberish, nonsensical, overly repeated slang starts spewing from the persons mouth (hella, cuttie, beezy, foo, etc) then they are from NorCal
Not that I have anything against them…two of my roommates are from the bay area, but some people’s usage of hella is just absurd. IE That movie was hella awesome. I’m going to see it hella times. I hella laughed my ass off. -Real life conversation

Question
If this waste of a baseball game between the Twins and Indians runs late, will the Bears game not be shown? I know they don’t mean anything, but I’d still like to see Cutler in action.

holy shit
was watching the phils-braves here in central illinois (that was the game fox gave us), and just after the braves tied the game at 3 in the 9th with none out, the screen went black and the next thing i knew they were showing the bears running out on to the field before their game. total and utter fucking horseshit. and here’s a little secret: i fucking hate football. thanks fox.

I’ll never forget the very exciting Sox game I was at in 2002 (iirc) around the start of the Bears preseason.

So Detroit wins tonight and Sunday (very likely in both cases unfortunately)....
and then if we could finish off the sweep………then for the week.
Det (4 at Bos, 3 vs KC)
Sox (3 at sea, 3 at Oak)
Det 4-3
Sox 4-2
Should we satisfied with a 1/2 game edge for the week given the schedules? I think so..how about you guys?
No TV Today
Don’t blame Fox for this. Oakland could have started the game at 6:00 PM Chicago time or later and it could have been broadcast. Oakland denied their fans the right to see the game also.
They would have had a hard time playing...
