Yay

Why was he still on the roster anyway? I guess since Getz is hurt they needed him in OF since Nix would be in the IF most of the time. Still, once Getz is healthy does this mean Wise is gone?

That was very nice of them to put him on the DL

instead of shipping him to Charlotte. He still collects his major league salary.

"It was like everything was slow motion," Wise said. "I stuck my hand out so slowly and was able to make the catch."

by ChicagoPete on Aug 18, 2009 3:43 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

so how does that work?

If he signs a major league contract in the offseason it’s guaranteed for the year even if he’s sent down to the minors?

"It was like everything was slow motion," Wise said. "I stuck my hand out so slowly and was able to make the catch."

by ChicagoPete on Aug 18, 2009 4:02 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

well, yeah.

i mean, the sox can’t send linebrink to the minors and not pay his salary. same thing occurred with macdougal, who was probably the highest paid minor leaguer last season. you can sign a player to a contract where it’s contemplated that he doesn’t get his full salary if they’re optioned at some point or simply in the minors – split contracts do that, for example. pretty sure wise’s contract is guaranteed.

by larry on Aug 18, 2009 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

wouldnt signing bonuses push several guys past McDougal or does that not count?

/picture of a retard

Castro ran into the dugout and told pitcher Jose Contreras, "He hasn't missed a spot all day. I think hes going to do it." Contreras replied, "Shut the fuck up."

by e-gus on Aug 18, 2009 4:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

depends upon how the signing bonuses are paid out.

and if you want to count them. i don’t think anyone made a higher base salary.

by larry on Aug 18, 2009 4:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

MacDougal was on a 3yr guaranteed deal

I’m assuming Wise was at league minimum. My question was, does your basic bare bones league minimum boilerplate stipulate that you get cut off from your major league salary if you get sent down?

Guess it’s moot with Wise cause like 38fan mentions below, he’s out of options. I’m assuming the Sox just want to DL him now to make room, and then take him off again when rosters expand in September.

"It was like everything was slow motion," Wise said. "I stuck my hand out so slowly and was able to make the catch."

by ChicagoPete on Aug 18, 2009 5:32 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

pretty sure it does.

and, since wise is out of options, he’d be smart to just tell the white sox to go fuck themselves and pay him his money instead of taking a salary cut to go to charlotte.

by larry on Aug 18, 2009 5:40 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Charlotte???

I believe Wise is out of options. They are holding on for one more miracle.

stayed in beverly hills/ west hollywood mostly. visited a buddy in manhattan beach. i had business to take care of, which took some of my time, and the fucking cab costs with traffic out there are insane. a 2.5 mile trip to a jamba juice and a liquor store cost me $50 in cab fare. just demoralizing.

My friends dad got the list of people who were on that 2003 steroids list

the entire Cubs rotation from 2003 was on the list as well aramis ramirez and derrek. Colon and Sandy Alomar were the only people on the sox on the list, but contreras and garcia were on the list on their respective teams. Nomar, Soriano and Milton Bradley too.

I feel like someone just wrote names down

Of players who have experienced a drop-off in performance or were star players. I mean, there should be a lot more scrubby journeymen on that list, a la Grimsley and Rincon. Seems like that list was produced by a Cubs-hater too. Even though they were all on something, until the actual list comes out, it’s not responsible to draw conclusions from unconfirmed lists.

All kidding aside, this means Oz won't sub for Pods late inning with a tie or lead.

He mightve been tempted to do the right thing with Wise on the bench, but he’ll never slap Pods in the face by moving Nyx to LF and LiliMarlena to second.
Would he?

Staying on topic here, at least with how the posts this day have gone, I just saw a google ad "How to defend yourself"

with the tag line, “Discover What The Martial Artists And The Army Don’t Want You To Know”.

Ahh, how I love the paranoia / conspiracy card!

Why I take time to think about these “special” (read: retarded) ads, I do not know, but it did get me wondering what, exactly, do the martial artists and the army have in common? And from that subset, what would they be trying to hide?

Anyways, since I know you all want answers to these burning questions, the website is: www.CloseCombatTraining.com
