That's How We All Feel, AJ
I held off writing anything tonight in the hope that with a few hours between me and the memory of another loss, one in which Boston was doing most of the gifting, I would write something more measured. But I still want to write about 2010 starting tomorrow. So, we'll just save that for, well, tomorrow, or when the White Sox fall back under .500, whichever comes first.

Cashing checks and having sex.
YOU AIN'T WRONG
Once again we snatch defeat from the jaws of possible victory. Linebrink is a piece of shit. There is no killer instinct on this team. I sat in the car listening to my XM getting eaten up by bugs. For what? I went back in the house when the game was over, the old lady looked at me and said, " I know that look on your face." All I could say was, Yeah.
True story:
I saw two girls exchange pants, as in remove their pants and put on the other girls’, in front of my parents’ house at about just after 12 AM Tuesday morning…
When the one girl exclaimed “Your pants are so comfortable!” I decided it was my cue to up the ante and yelled “Her bra is even more comfortable” out the window.
When they couldn’t figure out who was yelling at them, I just devolved into “Show me your tits!” At which point the guy who was with them, whom I had not noticed due to the fact that he was lying prone in the middle of the street, decided he was tough guy protector and drunkenly staggered toward the wrong house to merit out some drunken-excuse-me-while-I-sleep-this-off-in-the-middle-of-a-street justice.

i'm really glad the shit is hitting the fan while i'm out of town and not following every game
makes it easier to take when it’s just score updates. looks like the halos are deciding to lose to the tiggers as we’re losing to the carmines.
though i fear for the moment when kenwo hits some form of sobriety and a keyboard. i wouldn’t wish attendance to the past two games as a visiting fan on my worst enemy.
These events have me frightened and on the verge of evacuating my bowels.
tough week for old kenwo
by my estimates he runs out of innings in the sss fantasy league today and wont be able to accumulate any more pitching statistics. He has 9 left with 2 starters going today.
For comparisons sake, a team right on schedule still has about 300 innings left.
Castro ran into the dugout and told pitcher Jose Contreras, "He hasn't missed a spot all day. I think hes going to do it." Contreras replied, "Shut the fuck up."

After watching that debacle last night
I realized the coffin is about nailed shut. I am sick of watching this team swing for the fences – it seems that everyone wants to knock the ball out of the park. When your swing is off, you then pop everything up or K swinging through pitches. Happened repeatedly again last night, especially with RISP.
Also, why do we pitch Linebrink in “game on the line” situations? He has nothing and unfortunately we have him for another season.
I think Che’ might really be a pussy….he folds under pressure situations. Gets the “deer in headlights” look and goofy fucking scared grin.
Lastly, we field like the “Bad News Bears”…embarassing.

doesn't that first part have more to do with him not being a particularly good SS?

I think there's sexiness in infield hits because they require technique. - Ichiro
Oh, so now he is failing.
You wore Alexei pledge pin and now you are wavering towards lack of talent. No shit there is a lack of talent there. Obviously he is not the talented shortstop he was hyped to be. Lately he hasn’t done twat with the bat and looks like he is just bailing out. His at bats last night look pathetic.
Maybe this is all just my frustration and lack of sleep…or maybe a carry over from my angst at that other cuban pitcher we got.

One catch (and 1 hit) does not make you a major league player... or does it?
i think the case with dye falling off a cliff is a little bit different
given his age. There’s always been a risk that one of our old slow guys declined fast and declined hard. Is this just an extended slump or the start of a decline due to age? How do you know the difference? There’s a reasonable case to be made for either.

From experience re: age/decline,
the largest questions to be answered are thus:
1. Does he have a strong, steady flow or conversely feels the frequent need to urinate?
2. Is he able to maintain his turgidity without assistance of oral/liquid medications?
I can’t tell you if the change is gradual or not – I have experienced neither #’s 1 or 2. However, I believe Chiburb is an expert on #2.

So does this feel better than ‘07, since our record is better? I think it feels worse. I remember some DB saying how really bad teams are more entertaining (I remember the DB – do you? – smiles) because there is no emotional/intellectual investment. And if you check Sept’s threads you’ll have the tumbleweeds blow by from the last of activity.
This year, so many moves, so much speculation, so much hope. And still, we aree within striking distance. The amount of energy we are expending to grind our wheels on the REAL “treadmill to nowhere” could power Cominskey Field for through 2010. Was it Bob Knight that said “When you are getting cornholed, lie back and enjoy it”? (Actually, it started as a joke in the ’50’s. But I digress.)
I’m enjoying this. But I’m part German.

2009 - best part will be - not having to wait in line in the washroooms again
(And MB’s perfect)
One catch (and 1 hit) does not make you a major league player... or does it?
Well, looking at it with a gimlet eye
This team is flawed right now, but they’ll be much better next year. We all got carried away with MB’s perfecto and Beckham’s unholy tear and the addition of Peavy and Rios. But let’s look at what we got here:
Q in LF – injured, not 100%
Pods in CF – nuff said
JD in RF – Old, I suspect he’s nursing some injury
Rios – just got here, Ozzie’s keeping him on the bench for whatever reason
Beckham 3B – playing out of position, and looks like he’s hitting the wall playing his first full professional season
Ramirez SS – playing a new position
Getz/Nix 2B – rookies, not the most talented players
Konerko – old, looking tired
Thome – old, looking tired
AJ – old, looking tired
MB – getting older, looking tired
Contreras – old, sad and depressed, but hasn’t thrown enough to be tired
5th starter? – pull a name out of a hat each week
Linebrink – old, needs to be taken behind the barn and put out of his misery
Thornton – only reliable BP arm left, overused
IMO the biggest problem has been the defense. I look for a lot of improvement defensively next year, especially with the guys having made the adjustment to new positions and having Rios in CF full time. This team just gave away way too many cheap runs this year, and the offense hasn’t been strong enough to pick up the slack.
But hey, they stayed in contention for most of this year while rebuilding on the fly and gave us some entertaining baseball for a while at least. Another division championship would’ve been nice, but they’re running on fumes right now same as they did at the end of the season last year. Face it, we would’ve been one and done in the playoffs anyhow. Making the playoffs just would’ve meant earning enough extra money to keep JD or Thome around for another year. I’ve seen enough of them so it won’t kill me to see them gone next year – tut mir Leid, aber nicht weh.

Still underperforming...but mostly b/c they are missing the fundamentals...
Sacrificing is still BAD…fielding is stil BAD…
2b is Acceptable when Getz is there
Che isn’t Terrible at offense…streaky, but he is really a 8-9 hitter…if you told me that we could have a 8-9 guy that would hit 275, with 25 hr a year and not a monster contract…that would be great…if he were an average fielder
AJ is still hitting over 300…great defense, except throwing out runners…which has gotten better lately…stop the nonsense…
Danks and Floyd would be a great 3 and 4..their records are reflective of an anemic offense that has failed in every aspect of the game that won the WS in ‘05
Bullpen is good, even with LB’s regular implosions…top 10 in ERA, 4th in not allowing inherited runners to score..
Pods vs Wise or Anderson…again…at the beginning of the year, would you have taken his line?
Quentin was injured early, and we knew he would be a work in progress all year…
Bottom Line…they have been Better than we really thought we would be in May…and a 2010 squad with an infield of getz/beckham/che/pk wont make me cry…dye or thome at DH..AJ behind the plate..Quentin/Rios/?? in OF is a bit scary since our $$ is spent…but bring back the pen, and a SP with Buehrle/Peavy/Danks FLoyd sounds just fine
but replace walker with someone that can teach contact hitting…b/c NONE of our young guys are doing that…and he SURE AS HELL isn’t one to teach it
Im rambling…but optimistic for 2010

I am pretty certain
this is the worst baseball team that ever existed. It is truly amazing they have won like 10 games this year. The whole team is old, tired, shitty, hurt, cant field, hit, bunt or run. They are so bad that for the rest of this and next year there should just be 13 teams in the AL and the Sox should be demoted to AAA and compete against Charlotte.
But nope, looks like the game tonight is still going to happen according to mlb.com. And Floyd is starting tonight. Great. Remember when he wasn’t tired and shitty? Me either. Gave up 4 runs to the Orioles, probably will give up 10 against the Red Sox . . . hope the WCIU gets paid to broadcast tonights game, what a joke.
