Do we need to see the youngsters vs. Cleveland?

With the White Sox eliminated from playoff contention, Ozzie Guillen has promised to play some of the "young players"  vs. the Tribe this week.  Is this really necessary?

Star-divide

I for one don't think this is such a novel idea.  Yes, I am excited to see Tyler Flowers get a few starts vs. the Indians. However, as i perused the article I ran across this quote:

"I would assume now that we're out officially, there's going to be more just trying to see what the young guys are going to be able to do for next year," Lillibridge said. "I've been working out every day, ready to have a chance to play, and playing a couple games in a row would be awesome. But there's not a lot of stuff I can do to prepare myself anymore than what I did in the offseason and Triple-A and a little bit of time here. But I'm looking forward to any chance I get to play."

That is all well and good Mr. Lillibridge, but other than Flowers, why in the world would we need to see these guys play?  Are we really going to have to sit through a game where our "youngsters" are in the lineup?  Haven't we seen more than enough of Brent Lillibridge and Josh Fields? Is Dewayne Wise considered a youngster? Other than Tyler Flowers, none of the other guys deserve to get the call these next 3 games.  When the calender flipped to September, maybe the Sox should have made better use of their call ups, because the guys that we called up other than Flowers and Daniel Hudson don't need to be seen this year, next year or ever again.

What the hell does matter? And yes maybe Fields does something that anybody thinks is worth taking a chance on.

A novel idea?

Inconceivable! I do not think it means what you think it means.

i'm still kinda pissed about Ozzie not playing Flowers

we were out at least 5 games the entirety of September right? and it’s pretty hard to make the argument you’re trying to maximize games won post Thome trade. unless Pods and JD had playing time clauses I don’t know about, I don’t see the logic at all.

aj has whined about every lost AB to anyone.

of course, he has had salary escalators tied to games started so he has a bit of a reason. won’t have that next year, however.

although, like you’ve noted, he’s whined for good reason

Just the oppo:

they could practice their bunting AND keep them away from the tv. as for the bad manager, no biggie: he doesn’t watch the games anyway if there are hooters in the stands.

i want to see carlos torres.

and i think the white sox need to evaluate whether he is a major league pitcher.

as for lillibridge, may as well put him out there. they’re playing the indians. these games don’t matter.

heres a thought: why the fuck NOT let them play

veterans can rest/not risk injury. bench guys get to play, instead of taking up space. what, its not like we’re in contention, so fuck it dude, let the non-regulars play.

lets go dodgers

And if we

lose so what? Maybe we’ll get a better draft pick. A couple of wins may be the difference between #13 pick and #11 pick.

all i'm saying is

we don’t have anyone worth while. what does it matter if josh fields and brent lillibridge get 3 games in? its not like they are part of the future anyway. there are a few other prospects that we could have brought up and gave a game or 2 instead.

It matters

because I am stupid enough to actually sit through the game and watch these jabronies that aren’t any good. Might as well hold a raffle and sign the winner to a 1 day contract and let them play second and bat 9th.

i mean, we all know they suck, just turn the channel if you dont care to watch

Yeah, the Injuns are pretty awful.

So you think Zambrano has more value than Peavy? You are an idiot.
