the ozzie appreciation comment:
I’m not sure if winning is Ozzie’s top priority right now, but I like that he is still pushing guys to make the games enjoyable. A lot of managers would be more conservative in game 157, and I’m talking about sending Danks out to pitch the 9th. I know we make fun of "pride" and "moral victories" in our daily analysis, but I’m not too proud to admit that I’d like to enjoy my meaningless baseball.
I’m not being punch-drunk optimistic because of Danks’ complete game against a terrible Indians team. I simply like knowing that Ozzie appreciates the thrill of the individual games inside the final string, and Ozzie knows that watching John Danks kick Cleveland in the nuts is a fun baseball moment. He’s not recklessly starting Buehrle or Floyd for the sake of victories, but when a complete game is within reach he goes for it.

Interesting Russell was booed for the decision,
and Duke looked pissed. All because he wanted his pitcher to hear the ovation.

Goldstein - the other Beckham he refers to is Tim
Like the Beckham comment, this isn’t necessarily a bad pick, as Alonso had a solid but unspectacular full-season debut, this is more about what could have been: in the hours leading up to the draft, the Reds were torn between Alonso and University of Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham. Alonso looks like he might be a power/on-base first baseman with problems hitting against left-handers, while Beckham looks like a future star with a chance to be a “face of the franchise”-type of player. So there are no big complaints about what they have, as long as you don’t think about what could have been.

Was on the road all day yesterday traveling our vast critter induced State
and picked up the game on the radio. I forgot what a friggin train wreck that DJ is in the booth. He starts of the game actually as an okay announcer, but then as the game goes on he gets progressively worse until it makes your ears bleed. I think he is either on some sort of medication or his drinking during the game, because his mind and comments begin to be all over left field. His obvious flirtations with Ed Farmer in the later innings even make Ed uncomfortable. The last thing that makes him an abortion to listen to is his opinion that he knows everything and all about hitting and fielding. The guy was a horsesh*t journey man player…
Did any of you hear the tape of him and Ed after Saturday’s debacle? DJ said something like “all was going well early on for Freddy Garcia and then all of a sudden the wheels fell off. Kind of like getting rear ended out of nowhere and then getting banged and banged and banged and banged some more. Just keep getting banged.”….then Ed uncomfortably broke in and tried to stop it and then when he went back to DJ for a comment, DJ had already left the booth.
Ahh well, there’s my two cents (which is one more than KW has right now). Hopefully the DJ experiment is ovah.
"Jenks, who was never afraid to say "no" to a hamburger..."
I think I'd rather huff than listen to DJ on the Mike.

serious question
In Britain, or in soccer, do they routinely state a score with the trailing score first?
how much for the Tyler Flowers rookie card?

the suck is not just a river in ireland.

but nazis not one of them. ?
the suck is not just a river in ireland.
not always.
there is no system here and it’s very irritating. across all sports, sometimes the away team is listed first, and if it is it should be followed by “at”, but then again, sometimes they just say “v” or “vs” or “versus” and you have no fucking idea who’s home and who’s away.
the suck is not just a river in ireland.
So does that.
