Well...
You see the coffins represent the seasons both teams have had… losing ones. The author is saying the season is dead for them. But the sox won each of the series where they played head to head. But, the glory of having won the crosstown rivalry pales in regard to not reaching the post season, which is depicted by the sox fans under the umbrella. Meanwhile ignorant pig f—-ers like cub fans just seem to get giddy delight out of just going to wrigley, without regard to the quality of horrifically bad baseball that is played.
Feel free to call my explain-a-joke service in the future- discount for blondes.

And the Sox mourners are black
because:
1. They took bribes in 1919?
2. They won a “blackout” game in 2008?
3. They are Negroes from the South Side?
4. They are part of a Witness Protection Plan?
5. They like minstrel shows?
6. They exhibit appropriate gravitas as opposed to the moronic North Siders?

I toyed with idea of mentioning your creative use of Chiascuro, and the resemblence to Jughead of the bimbo cubbite… but thought that would be a bit over Hatchem’s head.

shit, DrEL, thanks for noticing! Sometimes the light and dark work out too perfectly, right?
I actually had sad faces drawn on the Sox fans, but the white/ black flags in reverse of the white/black people worked out too perfectly, so I inked them completely black. So thanks for appreciating the effort, sincerely, it means a lot.

True, but..
We are still somehow in (or near) a pennant race, and are not Yuppie Scum… so I will take that any fucking day of the week over a worthless underachiving team that gets to play the fucking NATIONALS and Pussyburg Butt Pirates for starters, and has fans with IQ’s equivalent to potted plants. So, I for one, am glad to wear the black.
