Joel Sherman: White Sox willing to discuss Gavin Floyd
No idea to the validity of this statement, but I thought it could be an interesting talking point.
No time to include my own thoughts, thus the fanshot.

2 things
1) please note rumormongering tag…I’m not trying to say this is a valid rumor by posting.
2) I’m going to guess KenWo goes with trade for Prince Fielder

no you're thinking of lance "ringless" berkman
4 hours 5 minutes? Is that all? Buehrle coulda pitched three CGs and the bottom of the 14th in Houston by then. FTMFYITA! - RWShow

False. I didn't even know who that was until I googled him.

Prince is going to be huge this year
27 in a contract year? plus we get two draft picks from the Red Sox after season

Floyd's contract: 2011:$5M, 2012:$7M, 2013:$9.5M club option
For someone who was worth 4.3 wins in 2009 and 4.6 in 2010, he was worth about $18.5M in 2009, and about $20.24M in 2010.
I’d make the bet that he’ll be worth at least 4 wins in each of 2011, 2012, and 2013. That means his surplus value over the rest of his contract is:
2011: $12.6M, 2012: $10.6M, 2013: $8.1M
= $31.3M in savings over FA market value over the next three years. That’s substantial, and that’s not even factoring in inflation. Colin can do the rest in figuring out the value of those draft picks and 1 year of Fielder. I’m pretty sure Floyd’s value is greater than all those.

His contract adds a ton to his potential trade value
perhaps if i have the time this weekend (finally finished my last midterm, woohoo!) I’ll take a look and compare him to other pitchers of similar skill/contract that were traded.

Wow - a shot at history.
If you ran this like Blago ran his office you’d sell it for a much higher price.
