Tonight is decision-time for offering arbitration to free agents. It seems a foregone conclusion that the White Sox will offer arbitration to Paul Konerko and J.J. Putz, and will not offer arbitration to Manny Ramirez. That leaves A.J. Pierzynski. The catching market seems a bit frothier than expected, with the Marlins splashing three years and $18 million for John Buck. But the White Sox have a tight payroll and may view the risk associated with Pierzynski accepting (a potential $6M+ outlay) to be too much.
