So there's enough new prospect crap out there to necessitate an offseason post.
First, Baseball America released their Top 100 List. Jared Mitchell is #55, Tyler Flowers in #60 and Daniel Hudson is #66.
Next, as Ryno pointed out in a Fanshot he posted whilst I was awaiting the release of BA's list, something called Diamond Futures ranked Hudson #79, MItchell #83 and Dayan Viciedo #90.
And, yes, we have more lists. Project Prospect released their Top 100. Hudson is ranked #30, Mitchell is ranked #55, and Flowers is ranked #78.
What's that you say - you'd like another list? But of course. Baseball Intellect published their Top 15 White Sox Prospects. Nothing really out of the ordinary with their list but they do provide another take and use video links in their analysis, which is helpful.
I'm out of lists now but let's wrap up with some general minor league links:
Good compilation of minor league run environments. Obviously something which is very important to keep in mind when evaluating players. Kannapolis' staff, for example, looks better in a vacuum but the Sally League doesn't score a lot as a whole. The Pioneer League, where Great Falls is, scores lots of runs.
Batted ball data has long been a point of contention (was it a flyball? line drive? stringer's bias). Harry provides some preliminary work on this at the minor league level. One interesting find is that Huntsville in the Southern League (where the Barons play) has stopped categorizing line drives and simply sticks to flyballs and groundballs.
