Sox-Cubs Gamethread: Pants Optional

Today is a pretty good day. I don't have pants on. I've been watching sports since 11 AM, and with the addition of the Sox-Cubs exhibition tilt in 15 minutes, I'll continue to do just that until probably 11 PM. Yep, a good day indeed.

Quit Worrying About The Cubs

We need to quit worrying about the Cubs and and focus on the American League Central which is where we are at. We need to be better than the teams in the AL Central to get to October. Too many of our Sox fans are more concerned about the Cubs loosing than the Sox winning.

If we were in a single game market, I would agree with you, but...

since the vile northsiders consume an unfair majority of the media attention I am obligated to split my soxlove with a healthy dose of cubhate….

Lucky for you we live in an age where you can control the vast majority of the media you intake

Sure Sportsnight on CSN and pretty much all sports talk radio might have to be sacrificed, but you CAN live a relatively Cubs free life! I know, because I’m doing just that!

Troubles in paradise...

Stolen from the Trib:

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The usually-affable Ozzie Guillen declined to speak to reporters after the White Sox lost to the Cubs 8-4.

But Guillen had more to say on his Twitter account, several hours after his son Oney resigned from his job from the Sox after being told to stop his blunt tweets.

“Hey kid we are behind you. No matter what,” Guillen wrote before walking past reporters in a clubhouse hallway.

Before Guillen emerged, his wife Ibis and general manager Ken Williams spoke for at least five minutes outside the Sox’s clubhouse entrance.

Photo: Oney Guillen in 2006, holding a replica of the statue of Liberty presented to his father after he, his dad and mom were sworn-in as United States citizens. (Tribune file photo)
Oney Guillen’s tweets have drawn scrutiny from the Sox’s front officethat has monitored them. Oney Guillen held a job in the playerdevelopment office. Last year he videotaped minor league players.

Ozzie Guillen sent a tweet later, apologizing to the media for not talking but writing it wasn’t “the right time to talk.”

remember when i was commenting about batters results in 3-0 counts and you noted frank’s numbers on 0-2, 1-2, and 2-2? well i was just looking at some numbers again and i found this interesting. in 2009, the average OPS for mlb was .751. the only counts in which their OPS was under .800 were 0-2, 1-2, and 2-2. even on 0-1 the average OPS was .807. here.
