Heresy!!!

Based on my supremely scientific back-of-a-used-cocktail-napkin calculations, the White Sox have a 29.37% chance of winning the AL Central. Even if, thanks to their 4-deep rotation, you give them a better than 1-in-8 chance of taking home the World Series crown from there, it still wouldn’t be worth the play at 12/1 odds. So if you find yourself walking up to a betting window anytime soon, do yourself a favor and find a better play than the White Sox to win the series.

That's why they play the games, Feisty!

so how many games you think they win?

I'd rather have Rios steal 50 bases than hit 50 home runs. I want production.

by colintj on Mar 23, 2010 2:14 PM CDT reply actions

more than 50%, barely

83-84 — and that’s mostly because I have a fair amount of faith in 2/3rds of our outfield

by The Cheat on Mar 23, 2010 4:42 PM CDT up reply actions

i think i'm at 85-86 right now

i’ve backed down from 87-88. i think the mode still might be in the 88-90 range though. and i still don’t get why Kenny did it this way.

I'd rather have Rios steal 50 bases than hit 50 home runs. I want production.

by colintj on Mar 23, 2010 4:45 PM CDT up reply actions

It's hard for me to be objective because views are colored by the idea that they didn't do enough

I mean I know Thome is realistically, only a 1-2 difference, but not making that effort just irks me… I might have them at 87 with Thome, so I’m giving them an unfair internal penalty

by The Cheat on Mar 23, 2010 4:51 PM CDT up reply actions

I tend to agree.

With a little luck they win a couple more, and that puts them in the Central Division hunt the entire season.

by palehose67 on Mar 23, 2010 4:46 PM CDT up reply actions

That's pretty good Cheat

Glad they don’t play games on the back of napkins and glad rosters change during the season. I still think Andruw Jones will be sure to put up a giant FU to the SSS community this season.

WU pulled out some straight up tiny writing exception shit

None of that crap this year. Rules will be defined. So I guess he was saved into some technical tie.

That outfield is way to shallow for a 3-1 count down by 2

And why the hell is the second baseman so out of position?

it's the famous red guy shift.

that dude is standing all over the plate, but if the pitcher doesn’t get the ball inside on him he’s going to crush one over the right fielder.
