Exhibition and Fantasy

Today is the first of 9 free webcasts this spring through ChiSox.com

I know there is already a SSS Fantasy league, but SB*Nation has teamed up with CBSSports.com to form a partnership around their CBSSports.com Fantasy Commissioner League product. It's a premium service that they say features:

  • Customize entire league the way you want...rules, scores, teams + more
  • LIVE scoring & stats so you can follow along as your teams rack up points
  • Keeper league capability to carry on the tradition for many seasons to come
  • Expert analysis provides up-to-date information on all players & teams
  • Live chat/league messenger to trash talk with your competition
  • 14-Day Free Trial included
  • SB*Nation discount -- 50% off your own league

Phew, now that I fulfilled my advertorial obligation, I'd like to offer some of you the opportunity to join me, (some of) the editorial team and fellow Sox bloggers in the now-official SSS Ultimate Fantasy Showdown. I sent out feelers yesterday to some of you, but a few emails bounced, and there should still be about 10-12 spots open. So if you're interested in participating in a private league that will be occasionally highlighted on SSS, express your interest in the comments, and I'll come up with a roster by next week, when we'll hammer out the finer league details.

Oh, and Billy, this is your gamethread.

Gotta love

that strikeout swing by Rios.

by Bear_Down on Mar 5, 2010 3:14 PM CST reply actions

Duh, Rios was already fixed in the offseason. 5 swings tells walk everything.

Says Walker, ‘’But to be honest, it took the first five swings in the cage to show me that he had passed the eye test. Mechanically, this is the Alex Rios I saw on tape when he was in Toronto.’’

Rios needs lasic eye surgery or something

he doesn’s appear to see the fucking ball.

by Duck99 on Mar 5, 2010 4:03 PM CST reply actions

have you seen his career BB/K rate?

he’s never seen the ball especially well.

I'd rather have Rios steal 50 bases than hit 50 home runs. I want production.

by colintj on Mar 5, 2010 4:09 PM CST up reply actions

has there been speculation about this before?

there are plenty of big leaguers with less than stellar BB/K rates. presumably not all of them need lasik.

I'd rather have Rios steal 50 bases than hit 50 home runs. I want production.

by colintj on Mar 5, 2010 4:30 PM CST up reply actions

you're the one agreeing that he's never seen the ball especially well.

i wasn’t overly serious. all teams do vision testing, i doubt it’s the problem.

by colintj on Mar 5, 2010 5:59 PM CST up reply actions

On several occassions last year you could see him looking past the pitcher into CF as he's k'ing

maybe he’s like a free throw shooter and looks at where he wants the ball to go. I’ll email Walk to fix that.

by Duck99 on Mar 5, 2010 4:29 PM CST reply actions

Mitchell has looked pretty intriguing so far

I'd rather have Rios steal 50 bases than hit 50 home runs. I want production.

by colintj on Mar 5, 2010 4:43 PM CST reply actions

there's always a better word than "intriguing" or "interesting" to describe something or someone.
