Philadelphia Vultures Circling Carcass of White Sox
A top Phillies scout was looking at the White Sox this week, concentrating on closer Bobby Jenks.
The Phillies also are interested in reliever J.J. Putz, who had extensive experience as a setup man and closer and would fit nicely into the Phillies' bullpen mix. He is also appealing because his commitment is only one year at $3 million.

what would sending a ’scout ’ to the games gain any more knowledge than looking at the numbers and all the seasons vt?
isn't exactly a lot of video of a pitcher throwing directly at you.
and many don’t believe the provided pitch speeds – and rightly so. there’s a lot that you see differently when you are actually at the game, particularly a certain viewing angles. you should consider trying it sometime. it’s a lovely spectator sport.

I'm sure others have a more definitive answer...
But IMHO you can’t beat “eyes on” and your own speed gun. For example, the Sox saw something “correctable” in Gavin that the Mariners didn’t. Stats are there of course, and could easily eliminate someone from a prospective trade. Otoh, if stats say all is well, you better confirm for yourself.

I don’t know about that… ive always liked The Apprentice. I probably wouldve watched. Donald Trump is alright in my book. And although Poison wasn’t my music of choice, I’ve always thought Bret Michaels was a pretty groovy cat so I would have cheered for him after Darryl Strawberry and Goldberg got eliminated.

and not because of the team’s performance thus far. Ozzie’s comments/complaints on how the Marlins were running up the score that early in the game are unbelievably embarassing. He even used the excuse of how bad the Sox offense is as a reason why it was wrong. How humiliating. If he can’t even show confidence in the team to come back from a 7-0 deficit then why should I? This leadership I can’t support and I hope it’s addressed by management. At least Paulie spoke up to say not everyone agrees with Ozzie. Why not blow it up already and salvage what’s left of our pride?
unless you work for the white sox, i don't think you have to be embarassed or lose pride over what they do or do not do.

I agree.... i remember when i was coaching a pretty decent 8th grade basketball team....
the lady who coached the 7th grade team at my school had no idea what she was doing and they would get blown out by 30 every game…. she approached the coach of the other team and said to take it easy on us (the 7th grade team)…. I was embarrassed.
I told the guy to run it up on my team if he can…. to try and save face…. we went on to win the game too.
