by KenWo4LiFe on Jul 30, 2010 1:34 AM CDT up reply actions

He might have some upside...

But I don’t get this. His ERA isn’t good over in the National League for a non-contending team and he’s getting paid more than Hudson is. Then you bring him back to the AL for a team that is in the middle of a playoff race where one of the teams you are in the race against had a good view of his stuff last year. Is Jackson and major upgrade over Hudson? I don’t think he is. It just adds payroll. It seems like if we are willing to deal Hudson we could get more for him elsewhere.

Yeah?

Well unfortunately for you that means Jackson would win 10 games between now (if and when we acquire him) and NEXT August. Which clearly isn’t worth it. Personally, I think that KW is kicking the tires on this possibility as a way of stirring the pot and seeing if he can call the bluff of all these teams asking for way too much for their hitters. Specifically Adam Dunn.

yeah

I write about whatever. I originally didn’t start a blog since I couldn’t think of one topic I wanted to write about. I finally decided to just start one and write about whatever I wanted and use categories. It seems to work ok and gives me a lot of strange search engine traffic.

Oddly enough, my number 1 post is my wedding playlist.

i saw that, but i also saw your posts on vinyl pick-ups

i wasn’t able to bring my records overseas, but i may start a new collection..there’s an awesome vinyl shop a few blocks from my apt, granted vinyl is $10 more on average in CH than in the US.

well, his fip and xfip indicate that he's pitching better than his era would indicate

that said, hudson is projected to be just as good if not better than jackson, thus an addition of jackson to the rotation is likely not to result in a marginal improvement of the rotation that would increase an already existing advantage over the twins

I am game if e Jackson is moved for dunn....

but not for an upgrade to our current rotation. torres would be fine.

Don't believe anything

I think the bullshit octopus is squirting lots of ink. Don’t get lost.

Jackson doesn’t make any sense. The Dunn maneuver looks like a misdirection play.

Keep an eye on Lance Berkman.

in rebuttal i would say

tony mowbray totally hosed celtic and now neil lennon is screwed. i mean, they just got pounded by braga for fuck’s sake. they’re gonna be out of the CL practically before it starts. and who knows how all these new signings are going to play together. two years in a row of getting smoked by rangers is not acceptable. also, i hope balotelli goes to man city and i hope once again they fail to make the CL. (at the expense of villa this time, not spurs)
oh yeah, and don’t forget, fuck jose mourhino.

Agreed . . . .

I especially hate football at this time of year when stupid preseason games crowd out MLB pennant races. I generally don’t like George Will, but his comment on football is priceless. It combines the two worst features of American society into one sport: violence and committee meetings.

by VAChisox on Jul 30, 2010 8:55 AM CDT up reply actions

As for Edwin Jackson

Hawk called him a limited, two-pitch pitcher in 2008 when he pitched for the Rays. I do not see him as any kind of an upgrade over Hudson.

by VAChisox on Jul 30, 2010 9:00 AM CDT reply actions

don cooper.

hey swisher...........you know.

by BuehrleMan on Jul 30, 2010 9:02 AM CDT up reply actions

i trust in cooper to fix Edwin Jackson

but do you think he can do it in time for this season?

by shaftr on Jul 30, 2010 9:03 AM CDT up reply actions

I suppose that is the question that the high command is trying to answer . . . .

and is there more value in fixing Jackson than in developing Hudson? Would a developed Hudson yield more trade value down the road? I’m glad that I don’t get paid to make these kinds of decisions.

My gut instinct is to agree . . .

and a future that could be a good trade like the McCarthy for Danks deal rather than a desperate, 11th hour move at the trade deadline.

by VAChisox on Jul 30, 2010 9:18 AM CDT up reply actions

i don't know the answer to that.

also, i did not mean to imply i am in favor of the move. i don’t want to give up hudson.
