1:14am: The White Sox are in “serious discussions” for Jackson, tweets Rosenthal. Chicago would send Hudson and another prospect to the D’Backs in the proposed deal.
Please find Jay Cutler some help...
He might have some upside...
But I don’t get this. His ERA isn’t good over in the National League for a non-contending team and he’s getting paid more than Hudson is. Then you bring him back to the AL for a team that is in the middle of a playoff race where one of the teams you are in the race against had a good view of his stuff last year. Is Jackson and major upgrade over Hudson? I don’t think he is. It just adds payroll. It seems like if we are willing to deal Hudson we could get more for him elsewhere.

Yeah?
Well unfortunately for you that means Jackson would win 10 games between now (if and when we acquire him) and NEXT August. Which clearly isn’t worth it. Personally, I think that KW is kicking the tires on this possibility as a way of stirring the pot and seeing if he can call the bluff of all these teams asking for way too much for their hitters. Specifically Adam Dunn.

well, his fip and xfip indicate that he's pitching better than his era would indicate
that said, hudson is projected to be just as good if not better than jackson, thus an addition of jackson to the rotation is likely not to result in a marginal improvement of the rotation that would increase an already existing advantage over the twins

I especially hate football at this time of year when stupid preseason games crowd out MLB pennant races. I generally don’t like George Will, but his comment on football is priceless. It combines the two worst features of American society into one sport: violence and committee meetings.
As for Edwin Jackson
Hawk called him a limited, two-pitch pitcher in 2008 when he pitched for the Rays. I do not see him as any kind of an upgrade over Hudson.
I suppose that is the question that the high command is trying to answer . . . .
and is there more value in fixing Jackson than in developing Hudson? Would a developed Hudson yield more trade value down the road? I’m glad that I don’t get paid to make these kinds of decisions.
If he can decide Strasburg's career is over
He can fix Edwin Jackson.

I think i would rather have Hudson at 400K with a future instead of Edwin Jackson at $tooMuch
aaand boom goes the Q!namite!
"Jackson has failed to throw a quality start in any of his five starts since throwing a no-hitter on June 25"
Sounds like Beuhrle after last years PG.

My gut instinct is to agree . . .
and a future that could be a good trade like the McCarthy for Danks deal rather than a desperate, 11th hour move at the trade deadline.
i don't know the answer to that.
also, i did not mean to imply i am in favor of the move. i don’t want to give up hudson.
