Out of Washington via The Score: Washington Is Not Trading Adam Dunn To The White Sox For Edwin Jackson
- Does that mean hes not coming at all?
- Does that mean the Sox are sending something else to Washington?
- Can we see Dunn and Edwin on the White Sox at the end of the day?

if anything hudson = jackson

and you spend more $ and get back fewer years

so they must believe coop can fix him.
this would have gone down as a 3-way deal. KW is not going to put his nuts on a table to be smashed.

I'm not so sure they are.
I’m not convinced that Jackson is better than Hudson. Jackson had a half-season of absurd hit luck in Detroit, and it makes everyone think he’s better than he is.
And Jackson costs way more and is under control for far fewer years.

Hudson doesnt have the potential ceiling of Jackson
and if anyone can fix him its Cooper.
The money part sucks, but we’ll see if this day is done.
I like this move with Freddy scuffling lately.
Danks, Floyd, Buehrle and Jackson if they need to go to a 4 man rotation.

So...I know it sounds crazy...but are the Sox trading John Danks or Floyd?
Maybe they can get back a bat and pitcher if they trade one of those two?
In any case they have to be trading from their major league roster for any further trade. And it has to be someone decent (Q, Santos, Alexei,….).
that would be stupid to even think about

unless you plan on going with a 4 man rotation for next year…
We'd have blatantly weakened two spots in the rotation
For a two-month rental bat. Any gains we’d get from Dunn would almost certainly be wiped out by the differences between Floyd and Jackson (Floyd is much better) and Hudson and Mystery Fifth Starter X.

I've said it twice...it hasn't been incessant.
I think it’s unlikely that it will happen this season, but….
1) If it doesn’t that’s a lot of money in the rotation next season
2) The Sox still need a bat and a good pitcher could bring a bat and replacement stiff pitcher
3) People keep talking about a big deal happening and that takes talent being sent out….
So I thought it was worth wondering about. No big deal….

maybe the game will get called and they won’t need a pitcher at all tonight. the suspense is killing me.
hey swisher...........you know.
Logic
KW knows we need to have 5 SPs and we have no one we can call up. He wouldn’t trust Tony Pena converting to a full-time SP. Therefore we cannot get a left-handed bat and give up a pitcher without one back. Middle relief isn’t very valuable either so someone explain how we get Adam Dunn or Berkman.
Not hard to find a fifth starter at this point..
I wouldn’t worry about that. The bat is all that matters.

I like Joe Sheehan's proposal better
Nationals trade 1B Adam Dunn to the White Sox for LHP Santos Rodriguez.
The Nationals have been asking for the moon for Dunn, the best bat available on the market. Dunn has shown a willingness to stay in Washington, but the Nats aren’t going to retain him with the two-year, $20 million bargain contract that pulled him in nearly two years ago. The best long-term play is to turn him into future value, even in a market that seems to be undervaluing veterans. Rodriguez is a left-handed power arm who has come along slowly. At 22, he has 59 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings for Kannapolis in the high-A Carolina League. In the long term, he could be the Nats’ version of the White Sox’ Matt Thornton while closer Drew Storen would be their Bobby Jenks.

Dealing Jackson without adding a viable fifth starter just doesn't make a whole lot of sense
I can see KW thinking that with some of Coop’s pixie dust, Jackson can be a big improvement over Hudson for this year and next year. But dealing Jackson for Dunn? That strikes me as circular. The drop-off from Jackson to Torres negates probably about half of the upgrade of Dunn over Kotsay.
It’s really too bad that there weren’t any cheap, viable DH candidates to be had this winter…

Jackson v. Twins
In 2008 and 2009 Jackson started 3 games against the Twins. He was 1-1, pitched 20 innings, gave up 9 ER, struck out 21, walked 7, gave up 20 hits. ERA 4.05. Last year he was 0-1 in two starts vs. the Twins with a 5.84 ERA, walking 6 and giving up 13 hits in 12 1/3 innings. He did strike out 16.
I’m not real excited.

Pujols, what are we giving up to get him… and how will this effect Kotsay’s playing time.
It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
In the last three years (2007-2009)
He was 1-3 with a 6.29 ERA v. Twins. 28 hits and 14 walks in 24 1/3 innings. I fear that we’ll be hearing Hawk say “dreaded lead off walk” with some frequency.
Seriously dude
Who cares what he did in 4 starts? I can point to 4 times that the Twins smacked around MB
I am furious with the amount of baseless speculation
