here's the bio from zeldapedia or whatever
When Link first encounters the Twin Lumberjacks, they are attempting to cut down a tree to the southwest of their cabin. While they saw, A. Bumpkin explains to Link that a mysterious fog has recently fallen over the forest, while B. Bumpkin states that the tree feels rather odd as they cut it.
When Link returns to the site of the tree at a later time however, the lumberjacks are gone. With the twins out of his way, Link uses his Pegasus Boots, and charges into the tree, revealing a hole that he falls into, presumably the reason the tree felt odd. The hole leads to a cave with a Piece of Heart inside.
… so yeah, just a peace of a heart.

I took my ex to the "Elvis Night" game back in 2006
she was a Cardinals fan and kind of a bitch, so we didn’t make it back to the park until about a year later…
When again, it happened to be Elvis Night (pretty sure Contreras pitched in both Sox victories as well).
She got up to go to the bathroom, so I told the Elvis people sitting in front of us that I was going to claim that this is what we do every Saturday night at Sox park.
So she gets back, and I begin to explain our bizarre ballpark tradition when I’m interrupted by the Elvis in front of us who turns around and shouts:
EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT!!!
Fun.

Tax that 0.5% of the population pays = Not Onerous
Though all of that said, I’ve always thought that it was silly to tax income received from a dead relative differently than income received from an employer. If I mow your yard and you give me $20, I (theoretically) have to pay income tax on that. It shouldn’t change just because I didn’t mow your yard, you died, and I’m your nephew.

it seems like he's implying that the Rays are afraid to get a DH
Because the Rays once acquired a DH and it didn’t work out- they’ve since sworn “we won’t get fooled again.” and are now done with all National League power hitters. or something.
We also have a bad DH, that means Dunn will fail.

Ok .... I know I'm late to the party
But explain this to me …..
If we flip Edwin Jackson plus a prospect for Dunn or Berkman, we are in essence giving up 3 pieces for either one of them. Thats seems a lot to me for either of those 2 guys. Now if the trade was Edwin + Kotsay (or Teahen) I will giv KW a kiss on his forehead the next time i see him. I’ll be the guy getting escorted out of the ChiSox Convention in 2011.

I guess I'll repost the info from the Knight's website since no one's checking the other threads...
Harrell, 25, is 9-9 with a 4.24 ERA (56 ER/119.0 IP) and 73 strikeouts in 22 starts with Charlotte this season. The 6-foot-2, 200 pounder has allowed a .256 (114-445) opponents average with 53 walks.
Harrell is 42-37 with a 3.79 ERA (258 ER/613.1 IP) and 404 strikeouts in 121 games (115 starts) over seven seasons in the White Sox minor-league system. His best season came in 2009 when he went 12-4 with a 3.27 ERA (53 ER/146.0 IP) in 25 starts between Class AA Birmingham and Charlotte.

Jackson's definitely got surplus value this year
not even making $5MM in ‘10. And if your operating assumption is that you’re likely to fix him, you can get further surplus value in the next extension. They only need about a half-win to a win’s worth of surplus value per season to make it match Hudson’s expectation.
And that expectation is remarkably low, fwiw. Top 10 pitching prospects are more like top 51-100 hitting prospects.

Fireworks: Bang?
I forgot to mention that I was almost serious
It’s not like our fifth starter from 5 years ago, El Duque, didn’t have his playoff moment…
playoffs are a couple coin flips
but i don’t think it would hurt to have a guy who could obviously close. in an extra 3-20 games, pitchers are going to have the most impact.
Fireworks: Bang?
I don't know I like using Hudson for either
KW got Danks for McCarthy, Castro for Broadway, and Peavy for Richard and Poreda. I think he’s done well cashing in these hyped up prospects for good players. I think Hudson could have yielded more later, but perhaps showcasing him for the next two months might have ruined his stock. KW must have figured that Hudson’s value was highest now. Thinking out loud here.
Richard > Peavy at this juncture
SSS has been able to get a lot of value out of him, but I imagine other sites look at his age and the some of the garbage he’s typing and think that he could be one terrible mistyped post from hanging them up.
-Sox Machine on winningugly
True.
I liked Richard (but he’s had a down July, apparently). I really don’t know the cause of the Peavy injury, and if that was something that should have been foreseen. The point I’m trying to make is that KW has leveraged this prospect pitchers well and at the right time. I just don’t know if this was the time to deal Hudson to maximize return.
even after you correct for Petco?
i like Richard well enough and it looks like he’s advanced somewhat already from last season. but xbh off RH bats was/is his problem. petco cures a lot of that.

that was my feeling all along
Hudson was their only trading chip. This team is built on pitching, and once Peavy went down if they were going to make one move at the deadline it would be for another pitcher, not a hitter. Hudson shit the bed two out of three starts, Coop probably said whatever his problem was he couldn’t fix it midstream. The offense has been scoring enough to get things done, they can’t sacrifice one game out of five with a questionable rookie.
I am become q, fragile headcase
do you guys remember when the white sox were good?
i remember it like it was just this morning
fuck you mayor daly and your gun ban
signature
IF they swing a deal for a real LH batter, fine.
If not, I’m fine with the pitching upgrade. At this point you have to trust Coop if he says EJ can be fixed, and the implication that a fixed EJ was better than (an unfixable?) Hudson.
Maybe that’s exactly what’s needed for the remaining 2 months, along with marginal lineup adjustments like a strict platoon behind the plate an RF/DH.
Whatever, I’m enjoying this team lately.

Some Harvard English professor is already compiling notes that incorporates the simplicity of Ford Fiesta Night into the larger meaning of life.
My favorite line(s) about Fenway came from Deadpin:
Nothing — with the possible exception of flowers, springtime and the 3rd Earl of Pembroke — has inspired as much gooey bad poetry and aphoristic nonsense as Fenway Park. If Fenway didn’t exist, we’d have to toss a bunch of Harvard professors in a room to invent it, which, not incidentally, is how we also wound up with a war in Vietnam.
