Lucas Harrell showed the role luck plays in the life of a marginal prospect. Once again, it was simply the vagaries of the Charlotte rotation that had him drop by the South Side for a start on Friday night. And it was, as Hawk would say, about 1/30th of an inch that was the difference in a Daric Barton deep fly ball being an out instead of a grand slam. Non-strikeout pitchers should learn what Harrell learned last night: just throw some strikes and let them hit the ball. It's only Oakland, after all.
