Where's our 1 year warranty on a defective pitching product
So Jake has a detached and torn latissimus dorsi muscle. Obviously this will result in a season ending injury with the possibility of career threatening. What I want to know is where is the 1 year warranty? This is suppose to be the Rolls Royce of pitching machines - yet it appears we ended up with a Dodge. We didn't even get to the 100 inning break-in period before this lemon broke down. Perhaps this will teach Kenny to try to shop ebay and buy a second hand model that was only used on Sundays.
Sadly this all comes about when Jake seemed to have found his rhythm. But this was a known issue with him - scouts had identified the violent nature of his delivery as a potential for injury.
Here's to Hudson showing what he's made of. (And best of luck to Jake on hopefully recovering)

Steve Jobs says the injuries are just rumors
also, the way they’ve calculated injuries in the past has been a lie

All this stuff about his soreness and tightness in KC is news to me
Sounds like this injury could have, and should have, been prevented.

Rolls Royces aren't what they used to be...
they’re owned by BMW now. And there’s nothing wrong with (older) Dodges.
Peavy didn't want to pitch for a rebuilding team.
Now he has to rebuild himself.
Jerk.

"scouts had identified the violent nature of his delivery as a potential for injury"
yeah. pick a pitcher. predict he’ll have an arm injury. you’ll be right 95% of the time. throwing a baseball overhand inherently does violence to the body.
and peavy has thrown 127 innings for the white sox.
Yes and no
What scouts have said is the technique, or form, Jake utilizes in his pitching mechanics has certain flaws that place him at a “higher” chance of getting injured. I.e. his arm position when he throws and the lack of fluidity in the mechanics. In fact the changes that Cooper made early in the season corrected most of this, however, they also decreased his effectiveness at that point. Not to say those changes would have decreased his likeliness of getting injured. Jake also was a player that apparently didn’t take pregame warm-up throwing seriously, another issue that may (note: may) have contributed to his risk of injury.
"ass hole thi is the same line up whit leftys you idiot"
oh. a higher chance.
please. this is junk science.
if you want to go down that road, there’s a higher chance that this injury resulted from mechanical changes which put additional stress on a part of his body that wasn’t used to it and therefore couldn’t handle it.
Good analytical thought
Perhaps they should stay at home so they don’t run the risk of getting in a car accident. Oh that won’t work since most accidents happen at home

Peavy's mechanics and injury potential were brought up
In a Verduci article on Tim Lincecum 2 or 3 years ago.it mentioned Peavy and Dice-K as guys who will have injuries because of poor mechanics. Peavy’s problem is that he simply doesn’t follow through and the sudden decelration of his arm speed puts a huge amount of stress on other body parts. That’s exactly what happened with the lat. I find it hard to believe he will be able to change his mechanics so hopefully the insurance policy for him is up to date.

well, fuck a duck then.
I photoshopped a boner on the security guard but it's too dark to see --- billyok
yeah Verducci's got an effect named after him
and that couldn’t possibly be misleading or shitty science.
Fireworks: Bang?
whose been calling that science?
This is like having Marshall Faulk on your fantasy football team in 2000 and screwing up the rest of your draft to finish 7th.
