Chris Sale has been pretty dominant (14 K, .167 BAA, and 1 ER in 9 IP) since making his debut. How do you project him (e.g. role and/or numbers) in 2011? Long-term?

I think he’s a reliever long term. That delivery and body are just not made for starting. But, given the velocity and the angle, he’ll be impossible to hit in short stints.
How does being a Type A affect Manny? Do you really think the White Sox will offer arb?
Dave Cameron:
It’s possible. Arbitration is all about comparables, and the White Sox would be able to disqualify most of the good comps from being used by pointing to his PED suspension and his lack of playing time due to various reasons. I don’t think Manny or Boras wants to have that argument.
What players do you see pulling a Jermaine Dye or Kenny Lofton in this off-season? Pricing themselves out of range and effectively being forced into retirement?

Ritchie is because he was never on a contending team in big spots. I don’t think Getz or Fields will amount to shit either, but no one anywhere ever (other than Kenny) thought Teahen was any good, in the field or at the plate. Any level of analysis of his numbers proved that. I can’t possibly understand why they traded for him in the first place and then gave him $15 million for three years. Was I hyperbolizing a bit? Perhaps. But is the deal on par with Linebrink? Without a doubt in my mind.

Linebrink is a shitty relief pitcher, Teahen is a decent utility guy at worst.
Worse moves off the top of my head: Kotsay over Thome, Linebrink, Tony Pena, Swisher (2nd time).
Paying an extra million or two a year for a utility player is not a problem, and won’t set this team back. We have a lot of problems, but Teahen isn’t what’s going to ruin this team going forward.

maybe his worst. Ritchie is up there though…Wells got hurt eventually, but had a couple of very good years with PIT in 2002 and 2003. Not having him on the 2003 Sox staff might have cost the Sox the division.
