The #WhiteSox have purchased the contracts of RHP Deunte Heath from Class AAA Charlotte & LH Charlie Leesman from Class AA Birmingham.
Players who will apparently be left unprotected for the Rule 5 Draft include Jordan Danks, Terry Doyle and Brandon Short.

uh oh
That’s not a good Danks sign.

"sox to completely shut down minor league system."
what’s the point, GM ken williams was heard saying.
Some people get so rich they lose all respect for humanity. That's how rich I want to be.
So I am thoroughly confused by the Rule V draft
1. Just because someone is exposed doesn’t guarantee that they will be picked, right?
2. Does the team losing the player get some sort of compensation?
3.How do they determine the order of the draft esp. since not everyone picks up players?
4.Do players get angry if they are put out there? I mean if Jordan gets taken, is this going to screw up the possibility to lock up John?
Well, boys, it's a round ball and a round bat and you got to hit the ball square. ~Joe Schultz, 1969
Rule V draftees must be kept in the majors
for the entire year, or be returned to their original team for 1/2 of the posting fee. Teams will usually use it to choose players that one team has excess of, so a team that has 4 SSs in the minors for example might only protect two of them, and another team will take a flier on one of them. Most of the time they work them out during Spring Training, and then about 80% of Rule V draftees are returned at the end of the spring.
1. True.
2. $25K last I heard.
3. Don’t know.
4. Assuming the desire to do so, maybe.
Though I’m not sure Danks the Younger justifies a guaranteed 25 man spot for an entire season based on what he’s shown in AAA, so perhaps this isn’t so risky?

doyle is probably the only one who might merit being picked.
jordan danks isn’t very good at baseball.
good
fuck brotherly love and all that crap. he’s a Brian Anderson type all look at what I could be, and if that upsets chisel jaw well fuck him, he’s off anyway at some point.

What exactly is a Deunte Heath?
The internet said it is this.
Kissimmee police spokeswoman Stacie Miller says the 24-year-old ballplayer was arrested Thursday night when he allegedly responded to Internet prostitution ads and agreed to pay $75 for a sex act.
Meh.
And there's something wrong with this?

Off the record turned on
Danks was one of my favorite guys to shoot the shit with, beginning the fact that he good-naturedly took my chiding about his crappy Longhorns football team during the apex of my Horned Frogs’ football supremacy (not that I give much a hell about the pigskin). In KC at some point this year among much shit shooting I asked John directly whether the prospect of playing with Jordan would keep him in Chicago, even for millions less. His response—admittedly not under the influence of agent or hangers-on—was an unequivocal yes. Which degenerated our conversation into how important family is to him and all the other stuff you’d expect to hear from a good ol’ boy from Tejas.
I always had that hunch, and told him so. Additionally, his move to Buehrle’s agent I’d always taken as a sign he wanted to stay.
Oh, and that shit was off the record, but who am I writing for anymore anyhow, right?
But more to that point, I’ll say Ken has fired the first dumb bullets in this reveal, because from the scrapples of quotes I’ve seen from him at the Beertown meetings, he’s altogether way too honestly answering questions there. I’m afraid he’s entertaining thoughts of going Jerry Krause on this club and has started to relish blowing it up—based not on his career modus operandi but just his recent comments. Otherwise, there is plenty of room for Buehrle AND Danks on this team.
With four spots open on the 40 it seems gratuitously unwise not to dole one out to Jordan, per Tdogg’s scoff above. It’s like KW has already bought the JetBlue companion ticket to deliver John to Gotham personally.
Anyway, I forgot what I was saying. If I could figure out how to change my user name I’d switch to Extemporaneous.

How can there not be room for Jordan Danks?
MB I can almost understand re: cost/benefit (my heart will not go on) but Danks?

i would be surprised if jordan danks was selected in the draft. i would be stunned if he made a team's opening day roster. i would be absolutely dumbstruck floored if he lasted a season on a roster.
if you want to call it a dumb bullet, it was fired in september when he wasn’t called up and, instead, he was allowed to participate in the baseball world cup. the intention was plain as day then. the white sox let their junk play on that team. this shouldn’t be news to either jordan or john.
comps for him: brent clevlen, fernando perez, tim raines jr., jonathan van every, justin ruggiano. none of these guys have done anything more than shuttle up and down between the majors and AAA. nearly every organization already has something like him: kind of speedy, can play all the outfield positions and strikes out a shit ton. if his last name wasn’t danks, no one would care about this.
if john ever wants to play with jordan in the majors, he should stay in chicago.

Oh, you weren’t talking about me? I’m sorry, I’m just a little choked up over losing the younger Danks, who was so moved playing behind his brother made a postgame carryout box and left the clubhouse when his big bro was down south rehabbing and treated the Knights to P.F. Chang’s.

How does one pronounce “Deunte”?

danks
Anyone who is up in arms over letting danks out there has never seen him swing a bat. He will never be even a solid MLB starter. I cant tell you if he’s better than the guys they protected but he isnt our CF of the future like some ppl think.

I do not believe anyone thinks Danks has a ML future.
He is a John Danks carrot. That is what I was referring to in an earlier post. No John, no need for Jordy.

When I saw him last his swing was loopy.
I thought I heard that he straightened it out though.
