I still don't understand why some fans obsess over this trade.
Konerko has proven his worth year after year.
2011 WhiteSox Baseball: we're all in
probably because so has mike cameron
and his worth has been more. and we haven’t had as good of a CF as him since he left (until rios potentially).

I hope Kotsay gets hit by a dump truck and slips into a coma where he is stuck forever in Baseball purgatory having to bat against a three-headed, six-armed Lefty Hydra consisting of Billy Wagner, Damaso Marte, and Randy Johnson. - Shoeless In SC

Until my mid-May graduation, yes.
Then it’s back to Chicago for me.

It's tough to say who got the better deal
Back in the day, a 1998 V6 Camaro with 12 valves, 200 hp @ 5200 rpm would have scored a lot of points with the chicks.

I agree with the conclusion
This is a case where the “intangibles” do win.
Konerko had the big moment.
The guy at the bank doesn't care how many trophies you've got!
you have to consider the knock-on effects too.
who out of pods, lee, rowand and dye would have found themselves elsewhere in ‘05 if there’s no paulie?
If the choice is between a few thousand New Yorkers or a White Sox championship…
…I’ll get back to you.

One of these days, I'm gonna write a Harry Turtledove-esque alternate history of Kenny's trades.
Joe Borchard hits the Slam in 2005. KW lands ARod in 2001, and he pushes the Sox over the finish line in 2003. KW decides to give Swish a second chance, and he brings the heroics in Game 163 in 2009. Kenny is fired after Pods and Dye’s injuries result in a disappointing 2005. Nick Masset is eventually named the Sox closer. Brandon McCarthy wins the Cy Young in 2007.
And so on.
The guy at the bank doesn't care how many trophies you've got!
I'd pay to read something like that
But it should be a volumnous series based on an alternate history of MLB as a whole over the last decade and not just Kenny’s trades. It would be hard to keep the cheese to a minimum though.
