White Sox Minor League Update Jeers the Lights

Prospect Retro from Sickels' 2006 book:

Brent Lillibridge, SS, Pittsburgh Pirates
Bats: R Throws: R HT: 5-11 WT: 185 DOB: September 18, 1983
A fourth round pick from the University of Washington last year, Brent Lillibridge is one of
the more interesting mid-round college draftees in the ’05 class, for me at least. He’s a small
guy, but his game style is a combination of the "scrappy" approach typical of middle
infielders, and the big-man power game more commonly seen among corner players. As a
fielder and baserunner, he is athletic, aggressive, and intelligent. He is a good defensive
shortstop, but can also play the other infield positions, as well as the outfield. With the bat, he
has good pop for his size, but rather than going for contact and using what the pitcher gives
him, he takes a big hack and tries to hit for power. This worked in college with the metal bat,
but as a pro it will be a problem unless he cuts down on his swing. I like Lillibridge, but I’m
not sure what exactly to expect at higher levels. Grade C+.
