Hope Jackson and Teahan to Yanks rumor is true

Heard on MLB that Sox were in talks sending Edwin Jackson and Teahan to Yanks. Don't know what we get, but it would help Oz manage with better options and would allow Sox to bring up the Cuban. Jackson is solid but Humber deserves spot and six man rotation has to end. Teahan has not been able to figure out where he stands on team and may need fresh start in New York. We will see.

Unless we're getting a young starter

I wouldn’t trade Jackson right now… We need to find out if Peavy can pitch more than 2 or 3 times at full blast before dismantling the “6 Man Rotation”. Waiting until the All Star break and possibly being able to sell high on Jackson would be best. Right now I don’t think his value is that good.

You have to take chances to win this thing

guys – just passing along what was said. I actually like it. From a manager perspective Ozzie has very few moves to make during a game with the one dimensional ballplayers that he has on his bench. The Dunn move kept this team looking like a softball team and gives Oz very few defensive/baserunning moves available to him. If Peavy does not stay healthy, this team probably will not be there in the end, and for whatever reason Teehan is not the right fit on this team. Jackson will be gone next year and Humber has given Kenny a wonderful opportunity.

by ThanksDye on Jun 14, 2011 1:24 PM CDT reply actions

By who did you hear this.. and where is what people are asking.

Where did you hear this? You’ve never answered the question.

“Heard through MLB” is not a legitimate answer. What is MLB? The MLB Network? MLB.com? Was it a radio station? Was it a direct quote from an employee that you know of Major League Baseball?

You can’t just go around mentioning random trade rumors and not expect to get blasted by people who spend all their time talking about baseball, when you don’t mention your source.

by Grinder in Training on Jun 14, 2011 1:48 PM CDT up reply actions

I like the way you spelled Mark Teabags last name.

And the Sox can win this thing without Peavy, he would help but they have done fine without him. Our primary bench player is Brent Lillibridge, who can play almost any position. The Sox have plenty of people who can move on the basepaths, even Adam Dunn moves well for his size. Rios, Pierre, Ramirez, Lillibridge, Beckham can all move very well. The only one who is really slow is Konerko. Here is an article titled“Versatility aids Ozzie in juggling lineups”

In the words of the great Earl Weaver: ""TEAM SPEED FOR CHRIST SAKE? You got fuckin’ goddamn little fuckin’ fleas out there getting picked off trying to steal, gettin’ thrown out, takin’ runs away from ya. Ya get some big cocksuckers that can hit the fuckin’ ball out the ballpark and you can’t make any goddamn mistakes."

Peavy is not a necessity for this team to win, they have done so without him. What is a necessity for this team to win is to hit the ball hard and a really long way. The White Sox play in one of the top 3 hitting friendly parks in the MLB. Another necessity is good starting pitching. If we trade Jackson who will replace him?

plus they haven’t been playing too bad defensively.

Hope it's true

i enjoy the playful banter by all, but I know what I heard and it would make a lot of sense. Teahen just taking up a spot due to contract and does absolutely nothing to help this team. Jackson has the good sparks but then has his so so games and will not be here next year. I hope this MLB scout is right and all of you can begin posting about the Cuban Tank and someone else that brings some versatility to the roster. This could be the move that solidifies Lillibridge in the line-up. but please no more Wilson Betemits from the Yanks.

by ThanksDye on Jun 14, 2011 5:05 PM CDT reply actions

you know what you heard, but aren't willing to say where you heard it?

teahen is (relatively) fine as a bench player and would be on the team regardless of the contract because there is nobody to play instead of him.
doesn’t lillibridge bring enough versatility for you? teahen can play in 4 different positions and apparently that isn’t enough for you either.

Again who replaces Jackson?

Just saying “This team will probably go nowhere if Peavy isn’t healthy” doesn’t work. That alone casts a massive amount of doubt on this “source”. Do you really think KW and the rest of the Sox organization would be so stupid and trade away a starting pitcher?

Plus it involved the Yankees (Of course). KW is pissed of at Cashman right now for claiming Marquez.

by 815Sox on Jun 15, 2011 11:52 AM CDT up reply actions

i doubt having jeff marquez claimed from your team would cause anyone to be pissed off.

let alone so pissed off you’d stay pissed off for a week and then refuse to deal with that team..

by larry on Jun 15, 2011 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions

.
General manager Kenny Williams joked that he gave Yankees’ GM Brian Cashman a piece of his mind. “He got a message,” Williams said.

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6642712

I also heard it discussed on the radio.

by 815Sox on Jun 15, 2011 2:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Ballantini also said the KW was upset with Cashman
Then New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman stepped in to muck up that plan.

"No I didn’t," Williams said when asked whether he thought there would be any problem with holding on to Marquez. "Ask Brian Cashman. Ask Brian Cashman. He got a message [from me]. But that’s the risk you take."

Marquez was acquired from the Yankees as part of the much-maligned Nick Swisher trade in 2008, so the New York claim puts the White Sox just a Jhonny Nunez away from getting nothing in return for the Mouthy Mohawked One.

The former major league called the notion of giving players a chance to explore options with other teams [the waiver process] a "great" thing because it "gives guys second chances."

That said, expect a terse discussion between Williams and his executive ally in Gotham sometime soon.

"The truth of the matter is we would have tried to re-sign [Marquez] and put him back in uniform today with Jake’s injury, Williams said, before adding with a smile, "but the Yankees have a greater need right now."

He had this 9 hit rule and the Sox would win thing and others were jumping on board. I am not above being arbitrary, but my god that was annoying. He is also a big fan of trading anything for “prospects”. Let’s trade Tony Pena to ??? for some prospects. Any garbage can be traded for “prospects”. I would say it was possible if Isiah Thomas or Otis Smith was a baseball GM.

by ThanksDye on Jun 15, 2011 6:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I think we may have found our source

More from the venerable “CWS1fanHawaii”

Hudson is a good pitcher, he just never was given a real chance, everyone knew he had the right stuff, Jackson still hasn’t pitched like last years Sox Jackson, he is still pitching like the D- backs Jackson, Hopefully he pitches great on his next outing so that it can up his value when we trade him to the Yanks lol.
By the way Hawaii, I wanted to say that I agree with the Sox trying to get a proven closer. But I don’t believe at all that they will trade Dunn for one. Unfortunately, it’s more likely that Viciedo would be the one to go in a trade. Not that I would want to see that, it’s just that I think that would be the price for a lock down closer.
