White Sox Minor League Update
2004 Prospect Retro from John Sickels:
Carlos Quentin, OF, Stanford University
Quentin was a very successful college player at Stanford, and on pure talent alone was a
better pick than some guys taken ahead of him. But he hurt his elbow this past spring, and
everyone knew he’d need Tommy John surgery after signing. The Diamondbacks didn’t
care and signed him anyway. At this point, his immediate status for 2004 is unclear, but the
injury is not expected to have an impact on him in the long run, at least not on his bat.
Quentin has power to all fields, patience at the plate, and an aggressive approach to the
game. I think he’s going to be a fine player, but we need to see how the injury plays out,
and how quickly he adjusts to pro ball. Grade B-.

Whales! Squids! Sharks! They're everywhere! Hello, I am Poseidon! Now, when people told me I was crazy that thinly sliced roast beef would be a delicious fast-food option, I knew it was the greatest idea, and you can thank me later for Arby's.
Have a game, Christian Marrero
4-for-4, one walk, two homers, three RBI, five runs scored. .337/.398/.601 on the season.
Looks like he’s essentially blocked by Gallagher, though. They’re just about the same player.

if you want to get technical
he’s actually blocked by juan pierre, who is blocking dayan viciedo, who is blocking an outfield spot for someone like gallagher or marrero.

Some people get so rich they lose all respect for humanity. That's how rich I want to be.
isn't PO for put outs?
anyway, i know that his offensive contributions will likely outweigh defensive liabilities compared to pierre

Looks like you can toss a CS on there for the Tank as well.
Banner day on the paths, big fella.
"I was up at 3 a.m., racking my brain trying to figure out a play, and I hit a huge word, 72 points. He came right back with ‘Pleiades.’ What the hell is ‘Pleiades?’ Someone plays ‘Pleiades’ on me, I’ll punch him in the throat." - Adam Dunn
Is that what's going on there?
You’re right, that’s absurd.

I didn’t know he had that in his game. His success rate from ’10 to ’11 is like Juan Pierre in reverse.

petricka says he'll probably be making some appearances in rookie ball before returning.
so i guess this injury will be lasting at least a few more weeks, since rookie ball doesn’t start until the 21st.
EE is sportin' an AFL slash line in his last 10 games, hopefully he keeps it up

1.59 ERA, 28 IP, 21 H, 39 K…..pretty overpowering #’s
it was mid-july when kyle bellamy was promoted last season.
he was on a similar track as reed, before being derailed at birmingham. that’s probably a decent guesstimation.
leesman should not be promoted, considering he's not pitching very well.
of course, i said the same thing when he got promoted to AA last season and he magically began pitching better.
presumably remenowsky will get promoted at some point. omogrosso also is deserving.
I once thought Leesman had control problems for an entire year.
It turned out he was just really bored.
