White Sox Minor League Update

2004 Prospect Retro from John Sickels:

Carlos Quentin, OF, Stanford University
Quentin was a very successful college player at Stanford, and on pure talent alone was a
better pick than some guys taken ahead of him. But he hurt his elbow this past spring, and
everyone knew he’d need Tommy John surgery after signing. The Diamondbacks didn’t
care and signed him anyway. At this point, his immediate status for 2004 is unclear, but the
injury is not expected to have an impact on him in the long run, at least not on his bat.
Quentin has power to all fields, patience at the plate, and an aggressive approach to the
game. I think he’s going to be a fine player, but we need to see how the injury plays out,
and how quickly he adjusts to pro ball. Grade B-.

Second straight six-walk outing for Leesman

Whales! Squids! Sharks! They're everywhere! Hello, I am Poseidon! Now, when people told me I was crazy that thinly sliced roast beef would be a delicious fast-food option, I knew it was the greatest idea, and you can thank me later for Arby's.

Have a game, Christian Marrero

4-for-4, one walk, two homers, three RBI, five runs scored. .337/.398/.601 on the season.

Looks like he’s essentially blocked by Gallagher, though. They’re just about the same player.

if you want to get technical

he’s actually blocked by juan pierre, who is blocking dayan viciedo, who is blocking an outfield spot for someone like gallagher or marrero.

I am saddened that Teabag will return to the big club

There are 3 maybe 4 players i’d like to see come up instead.
