Jordan Danks is why we can't write nice things.

Danks has a .429 BABIP over his last 10 games.
Mainly because he’s struck out 24 times over those 38 at-bats.

I think there is only so much Danks performance that can be had by the brothers in tandem.
Johnny has raised his game, Jordan sucks. Johnny gets lit up, Jordan lights it up.

Axelrod?
I know he’s old for a prospect, but it seems that his numbers over the past couple of years are fairly good. Any chance he will contribute for the Sox in the future?

yes. as has been mentioned before, he is an awful defender.
he hasn’t been intriguing for a few years now.
Kuhn's demotion
Hey Larry, any idea why he was moved down to AA? Was it because there was no real CF option beyond Danks?
Was it so he could get consistent reps in the infield? I saw he was predominately playing in LF (with a few games at 3B).
Did they feel bad stealing all of that valuable Gookie Dawkins playing time (or anyone else residing in the menagerie of warm bodies they rotate around the middle infield)?
Sorry for all the question… you pretty much have this stuff on lockdown. Thanks

Yeah clearly that was more important than perhaps the PARENT club making the freaking playoffs.
"When I think about him being in Triple-A the whole year I think that these are 400-500 more at-bats that he’s got to learn about himself," McEwing said. "He might not have been able to do that at the big-league level. He’s understanding the strike zone and not chasing the ball as much. He’s still aggressive but he’s aggressive in the zone and under control. These 400-500 at-bats have been good for him as far as the developmental process goes."

saladino, upside as a bench player or might he have a shot at SS or 2B?
iirc, the question was going to be whether he could field short (?)
by evenyoudorn on Aug 18, 2011 10:11 PM CDT up reply actions
well, upside is generally a starter for anyone who is even kind of a prospect.
if he keeps hitting, a realistic projection is certainly that he could be a starting SS.
ok, cool. i guess i wasn't sure if he was considered 'kind of a prospect' or not.
i feel like some of the early analysis was that he might quickly prove not to have the glove for short, but it’s nice he’s hanging so far.

obviously hindsight, and this happens to teams every year and all that
but it just really hurts my soul that we picked mitchell and left trout

how? like a little bitch.
i’m not even criticizing laumann, and i can only call out the hindsight caveat so many times in one sentence. right now, i’d rather have trout than mitchell. not poignant but i think i made it pretty clear it wasn’t meant to be. commiseration only.

Beyond that there is a lot of blah in the system. There are several guys with good tools but problematic hitting approaches.

What’s the Sox take on Leighton Pangilinan? They promoted him to Kanny, but he is now riding the pine. In his first two seasons he showed the ability to hit for a high average and showed some flashes of power, but strikes out way too much.
Was he promoted to make room in the lower levels for incoming draft picks or as a good faith gesture to his family since the Sox were trying to sign his brother at the time?

A White Sox fourth-round pick in 2009, RHP Matt Heidenreich needed two years in rookie ball before he was deemed ready for a full-season assignment this year. The 20-year-old took his lumps in the first half, going 4-5, 4.63 in 13 starts for low Class A Kannapolis, but he’s been a different pitcher in the second half. Heidenreich allowed no earned runs in two starts this week, notching 11 strikeouts while dealing with 12 baserunners in 12 1/3 innings to push his second-half record to 6-3, 3.67 through 12 turns. His strikeout-to-walk ratio registers at nearly 4-to-1 in the second half, and he ranks fourth among South Atlantic League starters with a ground-to-flyout ratio of 1.73 on the season
