Texas 0, White Sox 10: Gavin Floyd, offense awesome this afternoon
Floyd didn't look to have his best stuff in the first today, working the count full to the first two Rangers of the game before they both flied out deep into the outfield. Beckham then turned in a great play going into the hole and making a perfect spinning throw to end the inning robbing Michael Young of a hit.
Napoli reached on a walk in the second; Floyd had him picked off but Brent Lillibridge mishandled the throw and instead of two out nobody on there was only one retired and a man standing on third. That's when Floyd broke out the big and hairys. He was masterful the rest of the day, allowing only three singles on top of the aforementioned walk while striking out 6 in 7+ innings of work. He kept the Rangers off balance and wasnt hit particularly hard all day.
Lillibomb homered in the third, knocking in Juan Pierre who reached on an infield single and that was all the Sox would need on the night, but this is the 'quick strike' Rangers so just to be safe DeAza doubled in two more that inning and stole third base. Im really digging DeAza. Stone Pony said during the broadcast "he is playing like a guy who wants to be playing more often."
Paul Konerko singled for his 1999th career hit and drove in another insurance run in the 4th off reliever Scott Feldman. The Sox chased the starter Derek Holland after 3 1/3 IP tagging him with 5 ER. Pierre piled on with 2 RBI in the 5th. The party kept going in the 8th when Rios homered home two more, and De Aza capped the 10 run affair knocking in Flowers.
Brent Lillibridge was the comcast player of the game going 3-5 with the HR and 2 RBI. (and one error)
This was the 10th time the White Sox came into a game one game under .500 this season. After a pretty good start they fell below by a game and had a shot to even the ledger against the Angels on 4/17. They lost. They wouldn't have a chance at mediocrity again until July 1st and the NL part of the schedule. They beat the Cubs. They have lost 6 times on the season when trying to even out the ledger. Today marks the 4th time they won the game for even stevens in the W and L columns. Let's hope the 10th time was the charm and they can put a little something together going forward.
- Brent Morel drew a walk today.
- Alex Rios hustled in and caught a Ian Kinsler fly ball on a similar trajectory that we have seen fall in front of him for hits several times this season. He also hit a late HR.
- Carlos Quentin's injury was diagnosed and he has a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. Its not seperated so he will avoid the DL and is officially day to day.
- Hawk and Stone were updating the Indians vs Tigers game all day. The Tigers were up 7-0 early, the Tribe battled back but it apparently ended on a play at the plate. Tigers 8, Cleveland 7 so the Sox dont make up any ground on the division leader.
- Today's victory gave the Sox their first winning home stand since June.

See I said that a few weeks back, about how some of these victories are even more frustating than the losses,
bc it shows the way the Sox should be producing. I got chastised for that comment, but I still stand by it.

He's such a martyr.
"Many people need desperately to receive this message: 'I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.'"
He meant "chapstized". You know, the ones with no back.
Trying to score runs with Juan Pierre as your leadoff hitter is like trying to suture a wound in a moving car. You might still be successful -- but why make it so hard on yourself?

If someone would have told me we would win against the Rangers having committed two errors,
I would have asked that someone if they buy their clothes at the toilet store.
White Sox 2011: The season of extraneous body parts.
woohoo!
5 walks for Brent Morel! He’s got a .700 OPS since the AS break (82 AB’s).

White Sox 2011: The season of extraneous body parts.
Dunn doesn't deserve any more AB's this season with Lilli and DeAza playing well
The only thing Dunn has going for him is hitting left handed on a team with very little productivity from that side of the plate. AJ or DeAza would be a better fit at first/DH depending on PK’s availability. Viciedo had 2 HR’s and 3 hits today and needs to be up with the Sox. He’s hitting just as well against RHP and needs to be in Anaheim come Tuesday. Waiting until September is wrong. Let the Knights lead this team to the promised land!
"Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless" Kenny Powers
I definitely like the AJ as lefty DH idea, assuming his wrist is OK
It would also keep Flower’s bat in the lineup. I’d rather see Flowers than Dunn.
Q may also need to spend some time at DH, to recover from his shoulder injury.
Dumb should be used as nothing more than a Matt Stairs-like lefty PH late in the game, when Ozzie wants to force a pitching change.
Baseball is life.
And if we have PK, AJ, Q and De Aza at DH for the rest of the year...
….we’ll have a rotating DH!
Well, we did have 88 wins last year with a rotating DH…
Baseball is life.
i still have a little hope that they can win the division...
but i wonder if 88 W’s will be needed to do so

Short of something crazy like a Tampa sweep
The White Sox will likely need to win 5 of the 6 remaining games head to head vs the Tigers.

Or this Cuban guy I've heard about...Vici-something.
AJ can sit, IMO, with what Flowers has produced.

I am going to mark this game as "Saved" on my DVR
So I can watch it in February when it is -20 outside, to get psyched about the 2012 season.

if he goes 0-fer tuesday and hits a LF bomb wednesday, the worst furies of hell couldn't keep me from chasing that fucker down, much less some inland empire fuckos
and of course. i’d get to meet the dude and hand it over. surely something autographed and the satisfaction of being that weirdo on tv triumphantly holding the ball would be in store. and if not, who cares. PK is The Man.

Damn catchy jingle.

If only somebody believed in this Flowers kid
and suggested a few DH bats for him a little earlier……

Who?
So fast he could hit a ball up the middle and it would hit him in the ass sliding into second.

he obviously should have...
but no. My brothers girlfriend did though. I don’t think Boomer was all too happy. He should have challenged the Yellow Knight to a match- i’m sure my brother would have won.
