A little bit....a little bit...a little bit goes a long way...
Actually, her catalog can apply to a great majority of this season.
Ozzie’s “sweetest sin” of loving Dunn/Rios…
“A little bit” of Viciedo/De Aza on the field (but not enough)…
etc etc etc.
To my knowledge, certain things were not known.

Well, how about that.
A sweep of the double header would put the Sox alone in second place. A lesser team might think “why would we want that” but the Sox, they’re a clever bunch. I think they might be willing to do it. I think they see the value of sucking slightly less.
by mechanical turk on Sep 20, 2011 12:28 PM CDT reply actions
they see the value
of that second-place money. For the Christmas gifts. For the coaches.

Didn't Ozzie sputter on last week
about the coaches getting a few extra bucks to buy Christmas gifts or something?
"Alex is our best option right now." - Ozzie Guillen answering the media regarding Alex Rios continually batting clean-up (8/31/11)
Yes, he did. It was in his, "Hell no! Their fight left three days ago!"
bullshit rant. I get more and more sick of Ozzie everyday. I really hope he’s not around next year.

Watching the replay on Gameday, and Dunn's swing looked really half-hearted to me.
Maybe I’m just ignorant, but it still looks like he has zero confidence up there. Yeesh.

nice to hear farmer try to rip moneyball.
he just said “i think they’ve made the playoffs once since moneyball.”
yeah ed, you might want to check your facts. i count five times (and four times in his first six years). also, you might want to read the book or otherwise attempt to find out what it is you’re talking about. jerk.

OT, sort of, but anyone else notice that Floyd has a WHIP of 1.19 this year?
Why the hell are people suggesting that he should be traded?
Also, why the hell would the Sox trade Danks?
Don’t the Sox have Pierre and Quentin coming off the books, assuming that Buehrle is resigned and Quentin is non-tendered? Isn’t that ~$10 million?
Thought of this the other day and didn’t have a chance to comment.
It’s taken years of practice to be such an asshole.

Well, depending on the players you get in return, everyone on everyone's roster should be
considered for trades.

True, but I was reading the postulated trades as salary dumps
The context was an article that was linked in the C.M. Reading Room, where Jayson Stark’s sources said the Sox needed to cut payroll for 2012, so they were going to trade Floyd or Danks.
Screw that, they set themselves up to be “all in” for 2011 and 2012. Downgrading the rotation is not the way to win the Central in 2012, as others (especially Jim) have pointed out recently.

With Danks, he's in line for a raise for next year. No one is going to take your biggest contracts,
and since pitching is a source of strength*, it makes sense the front office would at least consider moving one or both of them. Assume Buerhle doesn’t come back, that helps free up some space.
*Source of strength meaning you at least have a number of arms to plug into open spots.

I sure hope someone does an analysis of Reed's pitching.
Would be great to read between games.
Trying to score runs with Juan Pierre as your leadoff hitter is like trying to suture a wound in a moving car. You might still be successful -- but why make it so hard on yourself?
Oh, hey, the game's over.
Looks like the Sox lost, huh? Bummer.
