Sigh.
Trying to score runs with Juan Pierre as your leadoff hitter is like trying to suture a wound in a moving car. You might still be successful -- but why make it so hard on yourself?
Somebody told me Teahen is starting at 3B tonight
What the bleep is Ozzie thinking???!!!
Baseball is life.
Will somebody please tell Hawk that it is "Tank", as in "The Tank" or "The Cuban Tank"
Not “Tanks”
Baseball is life.
Someone please tell Hawk a) he's "The Cuban Pimp" and b) to shut the fuck up.
I’m too sober for this shit. Fuck the White Sox.

Viciedo has three extra base hits since being called up.
He should temporarily be downgraded from Tank to a lesser fighting vehicle.

Oh yes, BA is a wonderful indicator
Teahen’s .184/.248/.289 is better than Dunn’s .161/.292/.280?

Teahen was better when he was with the Sox
He obviously misses the expert advice of Greg Walker.

Mark Teahen's struggles are the fault of a hitting coach?
I always thought that he just wasn’t very good.

But later in the article
“Right now we have a couple of games to decide what’s going on, but nothing was resolved,” Guillen said. “I told him I don’t like to come here with the same contract I have for next year. I think I need a little bit more than that. Right now I hope we meet again before I go (on vacation to Spain on Friday).”
Doesn’t sound like it is final at all.
He's gone. Let it go man.

The cowley article doesnt but every twitter media baseball guy says it is
someone said he told players before the game
The lede is pretty definitive.
Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen gathered his players before Monday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays and told them that it would be his final one, according to sources close to the situation.
maybe he meant final season, final series, etc. you know how he don't speek pooty goo.
(just devils advocate though, smells like he’s gonezo)
would you stop it
"Rooting for the Twins is just a roundabout way of rooting for a first-round playoff bye for the Yankees." by big_fun
nobody is suggesting he's back next year.
but its not strange to think it odd that he’d be out with 2 games left. either way makes sense.
he has to have the last word
knowing he’s been traded, he can’t swallow his pride, so he’s gotta show up kw one last time. meanwhile while thoroughly demoralized, the rest of the white sox have to carry on. what a low-class move.
news reporting this is his final game
its over folks
"Rooting for the Twins is just a roundabout way of rooting for a first-round playoff bye for the Yankees." by big_fun
stop what?
Its not like I am creating new posts about it, only replying to replys. All I am saying is that it makes little sense to get rid of him with a few games left and that people saying that tonight is his last game might not be correct. I think this because I am not hearing it from anyone credible.
what difference does it make if its tonight?
Fox news is saying its over tonight. Twitter is saying its over tonight.
"Rooting for the Twins is just a roundabout way of rooting for a first-round playoff bye for the Yankees." by big_fun
Not saying it makes a difference
Just saying that its really odd to do it tonight. I am not going to go through twitter, but not all tweets are reporting it as a done deal. Many are still using Levine’s source as their well…. source. Obviously the Chicago Suns Time are basing their reports on Cowley.
not saying that its not happening, but I need a little more to call it definite
Preferably someone willing to put their name behind the statement besides Cowley. Levine is saying a “source” is reporting this.

To prove that adage we have to look no further than our lefty power DH, our “younger Jim Thome”…

Of course its sad

He said he wants to come back, only with a contract decision.
The Sox are apparently not willing to do that, with good reason. He is being fired from his managing position with the White Sox. He still has one year of a contract left, but is being told he will not be coming back. That is getting fired to me.

i suspect he's just making it more convenient for them to fire him.
would be kinda shitty to basically waste a year on distractions with him as lame duck and also have to either extend or hire new coaches.
That is very possible
Say what you want about him, but he is very good at using the media. Effing master of it actually.
they already extended his contract.

"michael gilhaney is an example of a man that is nearly banjaxed from the principal of the atomic theory. would it astonish you to hear that he is nearly half a bicycle?" ~~ sergeant pluck
I know they announced it at Sox Fest, but he said he wanted a newer extension
And it looks like the Sox are not willing to do so. They are also willing to let him break that contract, as long as the Marlins give us something. Apparently they haven’t been able to agree on what/how much we get until now. Maybe the Marlins just waited it out, maybe they were willing to give us more. I doubt its Logan Morrison though.

I am enjoying it because they will be a bigger disappointment than the White Sox
Which is very hard to do, but they are doing it. I don’t really like the Rays, but I like them more than Boston. I was glad the Red Sox won in 04, but I had no idea they would become Yankees number 2. I also had no idea that many Cubs fans were adopting them as their “AL Team”
You gotta like the Rays

I want Sale in the rotation next year
He could be another Randy Johnson…it’s time to see if he is…
Baseball is life.
Kenny wants him there, too.
You think some new manager is gonna overrule that?

the job interview should go like this
Will you bunt?
Sur *SLAP
Will you bunt?
Ye *SLAP
Will you bunt?
No
You’ll do just fine here!

So do I, I think he has the potential to be a very very good starter
Why wouldn’t you want to give a shot at closing to Sale though. Again if he is in the Pen. Put Santos in the setup role. When Santos is off, he feels like he is really really off. Case in point right now.
I said "if Sale stays in the pen".
I never said that I want him to stay in the pen. I want him to be a starter.
Haven't we been over all this?

Favorite Schoenfield line
A change will be good for Chicago. It needs a new skipper with perhaps a more objective assessment of the current personnel, or at least one who isn’t willing to give Pierre 700 plate appearances.

yes
I am going to miss Ozzie, I am not going to miss Pierre. I don’t care how good of a clubhouse guy he is.
i could care less if the clubhouse is full of assholes if we win

the timing is weird.
i’d say both parties responsible for it but i just don’t want to hear anyone say he got fired again.

He had a contract, he could have been forced too
It would have sucked having him as a lame duck though
Not really, I would like for him to finish the year
But yes, that is what I was looking for. I still think that earlier it was too early to say that this was his last game conclusively.
lol
Okay.

I have no idea why you have such a problem with me wanting a better more definitive statement
I am sure you have heard of wanting to “hear something from the horses mouth first”. We just did.
that's fine. no problem with that.
but now would you say he quit?

not at all
He technically could have been forced to manage for one more year. It appears like he made himself much easier to fire him though. Maybe that is what he wanted to do. But whatever, we disagree.

True
But I think all it means is that they couldn’t get the Marlins to give them anything to inherit Ozzie’s contract, because the Marlins could always tell Ozzie just to resign and then they could sign him with no strings attached.
