Santos Rodriguez will play for the East Division in the Arizona Fall League's annual showcase game, which will be televised on MLB Network at 7pm (Central) on Saturday November 3rd. The left-hander is the only White Sox representative in the game.
Rodriguez has pitched well in the limited action the AFL provides, especially for relievers. He has appeared in seven games for the Salt River Rafters, throwing 6.2 innings, surrendering six hits, walking four and striking out nine.
The soon-to-be 25 year old is playing for a spot on the White Sox 40 man roster - although he likely will be protected regardless of his results this fall. The Dominican can throw an upper 90s fastball from the left side (and sits mid-90s) so Rick Hahn will have to have fallen on his head and been permanently brain-damaged to forget to protect him
Rodriguez also throws a good mid-80s slider and is developing an 80 MPH changeup. As is always the case, control is the issue.
