gordon beckham to cardinals for left-handed hitting 3b matt carpenter.

carpenter can also play 1b, lf and rf. the cardinals want him to learn 2b to get his bat in the lineup because their incumbent at 2b is weak-hitting daniel descalso and top prospect kolten wong does not figure to be major league ready this season. beckham would solve their problem, and could even slide over to ss in 2014. their current lineup is not as unbalanced as the sox. keppinger could play 2b until top prospect carlos sanchez is major league ready, which could be as soon as the all-star break, if not sooner. then kepp could be a super utility guy. opening day lineup: 1.de aza cf. 2.keppinger 2b. 3.konerko 1b-dh. 4.dunn dh-1b. 5.rios rf. 6.viciedo lf. 7.carpenter 3b. 8.flowers c. 9.ramirez ss. i have the lefties spaced out evenly.
