The White Sox signed INF/OF Conor Jackson to a minor league deal. The former Diamondback, Athletic and Red Sox was released by the Rangers after going 3-33 with 1 home run and 1 walk during spring training. The right-handed hitting "Co-Jack" will be assigned to Triple-A Charlotte and provides further minor league outfield depth after the signing of Greg Golson earlier this week (Edit: Though now we're hearing that he's going to be playing at least some 3B for the Knights).

The 30 year old is a career .271/.351/.407 hitter over seven seasons in the majors. Jackson was a first round pick and was a highly rated prospect but never quite developed the power expected of him. He does, however, have an excellent batting eye, exemplified in his almost 1:1 strikeout to walk ratio. 2008 was his best season, in which he hit .300/.376/.446 and accumulated 3.0 rWAR and 3.2 fWAR.

Jackson missed much of the 2009 season with a severe bout of Valley Fever, which also caused him to lose 35 pounds, and his power stroke never recovered.
