Over the past 4 seasons John Danks has 18 WAR and Matt Cain has 17 WAR according to baseball-reference. Somehow Cain just signed a five year extension for $112 million year, while Danks got almost half of that at 5 years and and $65 million. I am very confused. Did Ken Williams make a prudent deal, ar the Giants trying to repeat the Barry Zito fiasco, or is this somewhere in between? Can anyone explain the $47 million dollar different between the two pitcher?
