With Paul Konerko on the 7-day concussion disabled list, the White Sox bring back DeWayne Wise, the hero of Mark Buehrle's perfect game. Earlier this month, the White sox signed the 34 year old to a minor league deal after he had spent most of the season with the Yankees. The lefty played mostly as a late inning defensive replacement or pinch runner. He did, however, hit well in his limited plate appearances: .262/.286/.492.

It is expected that Wise will be used in left field, either as a defensive replacement for Dayan Viciedo or with Viciedo sliding into the designated hitter spot. Adam Dunn will likely be seeing more time at first base, though the presence of Kevin Youkilis provides another option to keep Dunn off the field. Of course, that would require Ray Olmedo to play third base. Jordan Danks, after his performance last night, may also see more time in the outfield.

Over parts of ten seasons and with six teams, Wise is a career .222/.258/.381 hitter. In addition to his defensive prowess, Wise is 42 for 50 in stolen bases in his career and his 7 for 7 this season suggests that he still knows how to swipe bags.

In his brief seven game stay at Charlotte, Wise was hitting .161/.182/.258.

To make room on the 40 man roster for Wise, John Danks was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
