On Saturday, Scott Merkin noted that Addison Reed deleted his Twitter account. Then he made sure to clarify that Reed killed it before his blown save/win on Friday, because that was my first thought, based on the timing of Merkin's observation.
Anyway, I was reminded of that when reading this exchange between Harry Pavlidis (who cleans up Pitch f/x data) and Brandon McCarthy. Pavlidis saw something unusual in McCarthy's performance, McCarthy responded, and over the course of several tweets, they figured out what the mystery pitches were.
This is to say that I'd greatly appreciate it if Kenny Williams put "data-friendly ballplayer" on his offseason shopping list.
