Year 5: South Side Sox Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball is back

It's that time of year again -- the South Side Sox primary fantasy league is back.

The invites to the top 12 teams should be in your inbox, as they went out this morning. The four names who were so bad they won't be invited back might surprise you, as they are all daily commenters: craigws, rhubarb, KenWo, and whoever Donkey Dunns was. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, and it's back to the B League for you.

Speaking of SSS2, I need to know what the final standings were over there for the sake of promotions. I'm guessing there will be more than four due to lack of interest in rejoining. And if you want to play in SSS2, there is almost certainly a spot for you. I think that league swelled to 20 teams last season, hopefully we can get a recap of the action over there to you as well at some point. In theory, SSS1 and SSS2 have a premier league set up where you can be promoted.

The league has been streamlined a bit this year. Last season we drafted too many guys and had a ton of scoring categories. This year we boil it down to 24-man rosters and 7x7 head-to-head categories. Your standard 5x5 adding OPS and -K for hitters, and adding holds and -HR for pitchers. It will still be a winner-takes-all situation each week, however, with six playoff teams.
