The story of 2013 will be the HOUSTON ASTROS!
That's right. They will challenge the 62 Mets
for the worst record in history but fall short - losing only 117 games and winning 45. Due to their ineptness the AL West will have BOTH wild card teams! That's right! The Angels
, Texas and Oakland will all make the playoffs due to inflated win totals with Houston in their division.
The PREDICTIONS are as follows:
Detroit- They are loaded. No closer? Big deal. That's the easiest player to find in baseball. The White Sox
know all too well stumbling across Reed, Putz, Jenks, Takatsu, Hermanson, Sale and Santos in recent years. There is no team in the division close in talent or in financial resources. They're defense was good enough to get them to the World Series last year and is better with Hunter and Infante. They will win easily with 99 wins.
Kansas City- I love their plan. They are much improved. Moose and Hosmer will have big years. KC will be a real threat. They have loads of pitching depth. Duffy and Paulino come back mid-season and KC can trade pitching for spare parts. They end up winning 85.
Chicago- Sad offseason as they add only 33 year old utility infielder Jeff Keppinger
and anoint him starter and savior of the offense. The offense is weaker with the loss of Pierzynski, aging of Konerko and the penalty of having Adam Dunn
. Starting pitching is good but not great due to a mediocre Floyd and question marks in the 4 and 5 spot. The bullpen is solid but unspectacular with no lights out pitchers. The bench as well as any position player depth is abysmal. The only chance for the Sox this year would be for all 3 outfielders to stay healthy and Viciedo and Beckham to make huge progress offensively. Unlikely. They end up with 77 wins.
Cleveland- Seriously? Some people think they will contend? Take a look at the starting rotation. When you are done laughing we can resume. I would make fun of them for having 42 year old Jason Giambi
except that he would be the bset hitter off the White Sox bench. The Indians
win 74 and never contend.
Minnesota- Awful pitching. I even feel bad for their fans. 59 wins.
LAA - 98
