One of the nifty things about having our condo vs. that shitty old apartment- The space to grow some stuff on our little balcony. First harvest of Summer is starting to come in, bananna peppers. Making a pizza blanco tonight with the peppers, garlic, some fresh homemade motz, and dough made from scratch. Pizza stone it up and that is some serious tasty. Our little porch doesn't get full sun, so this year was a trial run to see if it's enough for a few things to grow. I've already got plans for builiding a garden box setup in the back next, so I'll be able to get into a few more things. Thankfully, I know enough people who do gardening that when it comes time for tomatoes, I should be able to score some from others, cause I do love some fresh tomatos right off the vine.
First topic for discussion- Are you growing anything, and what do you do with it? Along that note, What are some of your favorite "Summer" foods.
Now, speaking of fresh, we had a little conversation about the Prentice building getting knocked down, seems that most everyone thinks of it as the ugliest of uglies that was ever built in the city. A few others seem to appreciate the historical signifcance of its contributions as we move our city forward architecturally. I came accross this and seemed it might be fun to talk about-
Second topic of conversation- Most favorite/least favorite buildings. Doesn't have to be in Chicago, but that would help. Also, for this conversation, link to pictures of the buildings instead of posting the pictures or this thread could clutter up real quick.
That should be enough to get the ball (of dough) rolling.
