So I'll be there for the very beginning, from the 26th of February through the first weekend of March. As of now staying with a friend in Tempe and will perhaps be renting a car in order to expedite travel if anyone is in need of a ride or wants to perhaps split a rental car lemme know.
My friend (recently single good lucking bachelorette don juans of SSS) and I got lawn tickets for the spring opener against the Dodgers on the 28th and we'll be there drinking heavily.
For those wondering what to wear and pack, the average daytime temp for the beginning of March is 74, with an average low of 52. Note that by the end of March daily average high is 80 and the low is 55. In other words, Chicagoites -- it's gonna be nice, but pack a sweater or two in addition to the shorts and t-shirts.
I'm vaguely familiar with the Phoenix and Scottsdale area and I can highly recommend the Embassy Suites Biltmore, which is located just a short drive over to Camelback Ranch and offers a complimentary full course breakfast and happy hour drinks with your stay. Pricey, but if you're a baller and want to go first class that's a good option imo.
Also recommend climbing Camelback Mountain while you're in town to get a sweeping 360 degree vista of the PHX area, it's a bit of an ass kicker at the end, but it's short enough to where the moderately in shape SSS reader will persevere and make the top.
Hope to see some of you there!
Adding a couple of pics from a Blogging About Baseball showing the (relative) luxury and pomp of camelback ranch as a spring field:
