With the exception of two appearances (resulting in an ERA of ∞) this year we have been deprived of Nate Jones Time Baby, but don't worry because it is now World Cup Time Baby!!

I won't bother putting up all kinds of links and whatnot here. If you're interested I'm sure you already know of places where you can get the information you want. I'm just throwing this up to have a place to keep World Cup comments (which I expect will be mostly mine) from disfiguring the regular RRRR.

Here are some very brief thoughts by group:

GROUP A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon

Brazil should coast. After that, I don't know. Croatia didn't cover themselves in glory in qualification and Mexico was even worse. I heard Mexico will have the most fans of any visiting country so maybe I'll tip them to advance. Cameroon seems in disarray and the players went on strike over pay and delayed their trip to Brazil.

GROUP B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

Australia is toast. I expect Spain to make it through. After that I don't know. Vidal's injury could hurt Chile.

GROUP C: Colombia, Ivory Coast, Greece, Japan

I have no idea. I like Japan though.

GROUP D: Uruguay, England, Italy, Costa Rica

I give Costa Rica no chance. Uruguay's fate may be determined by Suarez's health. Italy, as almost always, is pooty goo. England has a chance to advance.

GROUP E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras

I give Honduras no chance. France looks hella dangerous and I think there's a decent chance they might not implode. I hope they do though. I don't have a link at the moment but France was meant to face a much worse draw than the relatively easy one they got until for some reason at the last minute FIFA changed the rules. Cheating bastards.

GROUP F: Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria

Argentina should cruise. They got an easy draw. Nigeria won the African Cup of Nations but I'm not that impressed. I like Bosnia-Herzegovina a lot and I hope they make it through in their first World Cup. They are very attack minded.

GROUP G: Germany, Portugal, U.S.A., Ghana

Germany has some serious injury issues but I expect their depth will be plenty to win the group. In their last pre-World Cup warm-ups Ghana destroyed South Korea 4-0 and Portugal tonked Ireland 5-1. Cristiano isn't fully fit, however. I think the U.S. motto should be "not in the face". I think they won't make it out of the group.

GROUP H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea

I love Belgium. Probably because I know so many of their players because they play in the Premier League. They are both the hipster pick and the most overrated pick. I expect them and Russia to be 1-2 in the group. Algeria only qualified because Cape Verde got disqualified for fielding an ineligible player.

I'd like to see Argentina win because Messi. Spain would be my second choice.

In closing I will just add that Sepp Blatter should be in prison.
